Background / History
The Machine Race is renowned for technological methods regarded as the universe's best. Its wealth, detection systems, spacecraft, defensive arrays, and mechanical weapons allow individual members to compensate for weaker direct combat ability through preparation and equipment 46 49 52.
Unlike soul-bearing races, Machine Race members are born without souls. They cannot be soul enslaved, but they also cannot enslave others through soul techniques; their usual approach is to conceal their main body and attack remotely through puppets and mechanical devices 24 50 62.
On the Third Outer-Region Battlefield, a Machine Race relic initially believed to be an inheritance was discovered beneath the Star Sea Region. It was actually part of Fissure Gold King's long-term trap for Cang Star King, built around a damaged F9-grade spacecraft, automated defenses, and the Eighty-One Star Pivot formation 49 51 56 59.
Abilities & Traits
Mechanical Legions and Puppet Warfare
Machine Race combat power is not judged solely by law comprehension. A member's command ability and available wealth determine the scale and quality of the mechanical legion they can field 52.
- They favor large-scale encirclement, attrition, and coordinated siege tactics over direct confrontation 24 52.
- A fallen Machine Race Marquis's automated C-level defense system deployed 4,000 puppets: laser-gun support units, axe-wielding melee units, beast-shaped attackers, and chain-bearing units meant to form a trapping formation 52.
- Fissure Gold King deployed nine G-grade Mechanical Warriors capable of forming a space-suppressing formation around Qin Cang 59 61.
- Mechanical puppets are most dangerous when operating as a complete formation; destroying one can significantly weaken the whole array 60.
Concealment and Detection Technology
The Machine Race invests heavily in hiding both its main bodies and its installations.
- Their high-level detectors can shield nearby areas from external scans, leaving hidden structures detectable only by sight or prior knowledge 49 50.
- Machine Race powerhouses often use spatial concealment while directing puppets from a hidden position 50.
- The damaged Mystic Sun Gold Soul spacecraft in the Star Sea Region had been fused with surrounding space and protected by concealed defenses 51.
Soul Immunity
Machine Race members possess no souls, making conventional soul-based control ineffective.
- They cannot be soul enslaved by other races 24 62.
- They do not use soul enslavement against enemies, unlike Bug Race Mother Emperors 62.
- An intelligent lifeform may become a true living being capable of cultivation by obtaining an Evolution Heart, becoming comparable to a pure Machine Race lifeform 28 33.
Limitations
Machine Race warfare depends heavily on energy reserves and equipment quality.
- Large-scale formations and mechanical legions consume enormous amounts of energy, limiting how long even powerful users can maintain them 61.
- Stalling is an effective countermeasure: sustained defensive systems must continuously expend energy to preserve a lockdown or formation 62.
- Their close-combat ability is considered poor compared with races that specialize in direct divine-body combat 62.
- Major Machine Race war bases are extremely powerful but cumbersome, requiring advance deployment before they can form combat power 46.
Known Technology and Constructs
- Evolution Heart — Rare Machine Race treasure that can grant an intelligent lifeform a physical body and the ability to cultivate 28 33.
- Mystic Sun Gold Soul spacecraft — Damaged F9-grade Machine Race vessel with complex defensive rune patterns; it had lost flight capability after a past battle 51 52.
- C-level Defense System — Automated system that released 4,000 coordinated Machine Puppets against intruders 52.
- Mechanical Warriors — Colossal G-grade mechanical puppets whose formation restricted Qin Cang's movement 59 60.
- Eighty-One Star Pivot formation — Fissure Gold King's large-scale mechanical formation, supported by Star Pivot Warriors and a Pivot Realm Lock 61 63 70.
- Machine Race war bases — Vast fortified installations whose technology is implied to surpass even the Human Race's AAA-grade war bases 46.
Relationships
- Fissure Gold King — Machine Race King-level powerhouse who used the Star Sea Region relic site to lure Cang Star King into a trap 56 59.
- Cang Star King — Intended target of Fissure Gold King's scheme; the trap centered on Cang Star King's Heavenly Spirit Diagram and captured disciple, Star Wind King 56 58.
- Qin Cang — Human World Lord who entered the hidden spacecraft, broke through its defenses, and became an unintended variable in Fissure Gold King's plan 52 56.
- Pato — Qin Cang's intelligent lifeform companion; its calculations exposed weaknesses in the Machine Race puppet formation 53 54.
- Dream Spiral — Shadow Phantom Race High Marquis affiliated with the Machine Race camp; known for dangerous illusion techniques 75.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Machine Race Relic Expedition
Kailun led Qin Cang's team toward a purported Machine Race inheritance after revealing that a powerful Machine Race individual had left treasure on the Third Battlefield. The entrance was protected by an F9-grade metal gate that required a Fire God Source Crystal to breach 39 48.
The team located a concealed golden pyramid 30,000 kilometers beneath an apparently ordinary island. The structure was a damaged Machine Race spacecraft made from Mystic Sun Gold Soul rather than a simple tomb or palace 50 51.
Automated Defense Battle
Upon entering the spacecraft, Qin Cang and Kailun encountered evidence that its Machine Race owner had once fought and apparently killed a King-level expert. The ship's defenses then activated, surrounding them with 4,000 Machine Puppets 52.
Qin Cang targeted the chain-bearing puppets before they could complete their trapping formation. With Pato's calculations and the Huangyan Divine Wings' speed, he manipulated the formation and used Fire God Source Crystals to destroy clustered puppets 53 54.
Fissure Gold King's Trap
The relic was ultimately revealed as bait arranged by Fissure Gold King to draw in Cang Star King. After Qin Cang damaged the pyramid and disrupted the setup, Fissure Gold King sent nine G-grade Mechanical Warriors to trap and kill him 58 59.
Fissure Gold King later deployed the Eighty-One Star Pivot formation, but Qin Cang stalled the machinery's energy consumption while allies assembled. The resulting conflict escalated into a multi-faction battle, ending with Fissure Gold King surrounded and killed 61 62 66 68.
Trivia
- Machine Race mechanical puppets are more effective under active control; the relic's puppet army operated only according to pre-set instructions because its original controller had died 54.
- The Machine Race's technological advantage is sufficiently pronounced that human technology is described as second only to it 46.
- Damaged Machine Race equipment remains extremely valuable: Qin Cang sold the Eighty-One Pivot Realm Lock and a damaged Star Pivot Warrior for 150 billion Hunyuan Units 70.
