At the Tomoe stage, there was little difference between the three types of Sharingan. They were all well-rounded.

For instance, at the One-Tomoe stage, the "Ninjutsu Eye" could copy some of the simpler B-rank techniques if the opponent moved slowly and deliberately demonstrated them. The "Non-Ninjutsu Eye," on the other hand, was limited to the most difficult C-rank techniques...

In a fight, however, when directly copying an enemy's ninjutsu, the two performed about the same. They could only copy some C-rank techniques!

But...

As the Uchiha Clan's head and Clan Elder, they knew that beyond the Tomoe Sharingan, there was also the "Mangekyō Sharingan."

Because awakening it depended so heavily on emotions and feelings, the secret was generally kept from ordinary clansmen. Only those with the Three-Tomoe Sharingan knew about it.

And because the "Mangekyō Sharingan" had severe side effects, even those who awakened it usually kept it hidden from outsiders. For instance, the only Mangekyō Sharingan user confirmed by Konoha's leadership was Kagami Uchiha. Only a handful had Straight Tomoe, the mark of an Enhancement Eye. The most recent was the "strongest Uchiha in history"—Madara Uchiha!

Whenever they felt their standing was unfair, the Uchiha Clan would still find themselves longing for Madara Uchiha.

As a result, even clansmen who knew about the Mangekyō couldn't help but view the "Straight Tomoe" and "Enhancement-type Sharingan" as something special.

One Genjutsu Eye and one Ninjutsu Eye might seem well-rounded, but judging from the examples in our clan's history, even if a Sharingan like that awakens the Mangekyō, the two eyes' abilities might not complement each other.
