After the group began training and competing at the Great Soul Arena, several powerful figures took an interest in Jiang Chen, and Flender prepared to lead the students to the Star Dou Forest for new Soul Rings.

• Tang San borrowed Jiang Chen’s Thousand Mechanism Needle Box, and the two traveled with Xiao Wu to Shrek Academy, where they met Zhu Zhuqing and Ning Rongrong and passed the entrance screening.
• Zhao Wuji tested the five applicants, and Jiang Chen fought him while Tang San, Xiao Wu, Zhu Zhuqing, and Ning Rongrong coordinated their attacks until Oscar announced they had passed.

Jiang Chen and the Shrek group hunted Soul Rings in Star Dou Forest, where the Titan Giant Ape abducted Jiang Chen and Xiao Wu before they returned safely. Back at the academy, Jiang Chen developed new abilities and trained the girls, then secretly flew back to the forest to test his wings.

• Flender led the Shrek group into Star Dou Forest, where they restrained a Phoenix-tail Crested Serpent for Oscar, and Jiang Chen defeated Meng Yiran in a challenge.
• Oscar absorbed the serpent’s Soul Ring and gained Mushroom Sausage, while the Titan Giant Ape arrived and carried Jiang Chen and Xiao Wu away after knocking aside Zhao Wuji.
• Chen Xin and Gu Rong pursued the captives as Xiao Wu persuaded Er Ming to spare Jiang Chen, and Tang San fought a Man Faced Demon Spider while following their trail.
• At the Lake of Life, Jiang Chen gained a ten-thousand-year Soul Ring and Demon Eye Instant, then developed the Nine Heavens Dragon Wings as Tang San gained the Eight Spider Lances.
