Jin Fan was regarded as Lingshan City’s number one young martial artist and a prospective member of the Southeast’s next generation of “Top Ten Talents.” During his first year at Lingshan No.1 High School, he received nearly every available training opportunity, selection, and evaluation, and served as a guest lecturer at municipal education seminars. 2 9

As Grandmaster Yao Jianyue’s most talented disciple, Jin Fan possessed strong institutional backing, elite resources, and a reputation that led students and administrators to consider him overwhelmingly superior to Li Yuan. He was placed at Lingshan No.1 High School partly to acquire required grassroots experience before pursuing higher positions. 9 108 283

His conflict with Li Yuan began when the school attempted to give Jin Fan the Youth Martial Tournament qualification that Li Yuan had earned through three years of performance points. Jin Fan remained outwardly composed during the dispute, but was visibly displeased when Li Yuan refused to yield. 1 2

Jin Fan is proud, status-conscious, and accustomed to being treated as exceptional. He initially regards Li Yuan as an ordinary teacher unworthy of competing with a Grandmaster’s disciple, and takes satisfaction in Chishan City’s public mockery of Li Yuan and Lingshan City. 52 108

His resentment repeatedly overrides his judgment. After losing opportunities, facing public setbacks, and being demoted at school, he shifts from intimidation to attempted murder and eventually seeks to disguise a crippling attack as a sparring accident. 84 118 129

His tournament performance fails to meet expectations: he falls outside the top ten while Li Yuan holds fourth place on the real-time leaderboard. 58

Snow Shadow Mountain incident

Xia Zhao’s search for the person behind the “Wuling Education” identity mistakenly leads to Jin Fan, causing her to arrange a Snow Shadow Mountain training qualification for him. When she sees his photograph and realizes he is not the man from Qijia Town, she orders the qualification revoked. 78 79

Jin Fan worsens the situation by admitting that he had impulsively wagered the qualification during a match. The loss damages both his reputation and his perceived connection to Xia Zhao. 79 80

Escalation against Li Yuan

After Li Yuan’s rise within Lingshan No.1 High School, Jin Fan attempts a surprise killing with a longsword in an unmonitored area. Li Yuan’s vigilance prevents the ambush from succeeding. 84 85

Li Yuan later demotes Jin Fan to assistant teacher using evidence of his absenteeism and weak teaching results. Jin Fan responds by planning another attack, this time through a public teaching-research event where he expects violence to be dismissed as an accident. 116 129

Stone Peak River defeat

At the Stone Peak River Teaching Research Conference, Jin Fan uses increasingly lethal attacks during a supposed practical demonstration. Yuan Zheng prevents spectators from stopping the match, allowing him to press Li Yuan. 170 171

Li Yuan turns the fight around, repeatedly exploits Jin Fan’s weaknesses, and lands a Gang Qi-enhanced strike. Jin Fan refuses to withdraw, suffers further blows, and is ultimately hospitalized with a Third-Degree Shockwave Injury. 171 172 174
