"Brother Dong, did you really just toss them into the forest?" the Pink-Clad Woman said. "They're only six-year-old children."
"They already have their first soul ring; they're not ordinary kids anymore." Bibi Dong's tone was casual, as if this were no big deal. "Besides, Uncle She Long is watching over them. There won't be any problems."
"As expected of you." The Pink-Clad Woman set a glass of fresh carrot juice on the table. "Spit it out—what did you come to see me for this time?"
Bibi Dong glanced at the red liquid in the teacup but ultimately didn't reach for it. "I want you to guard the final checkpoint for me."
The Pink-Clad Woman froze, then looked at Bibi Dong suspiciously, sizing her up from head to toe. "Are you okay?"
"What are you staring at?" Bibi Dong leaned half a body's width to the side. "I'm fine."
"If you were fine, would you be that cruel to six- or seven-year-old kids?" the Pink-Clad Woman said, taking a light sip of carrot juice, her face full of enjoyment.
Bibi Dong shot her a look. "Just say whether you'll help or not."
"When Brother Dong speaks, I have to help!" the Pink-Clad Woman replied crisply, answering without hesitation. "But if she doesn't wake up, I'm not taking responsibility."
Sunlight poured down from directly overhead, landing squarely on the grass in the middle, bathing the four people and one mouse in its glow.
A little pink rabbit hopped out from behind a rock.
"What an adorable little rabbit." Xue Ke gasped, wishing she could run over, grab it, and knead it on her lap.
Pikachu leaped down, landing in front of the rabbit, raising a golden claw. "Pika, pika!"
The rabbit lifted its red eyes and glanced at it.
Pikachu collapsed on the spot, losing consciousness.
"Pikachu!" Zhu Zhuqing's gaze turned cold. Hell Spirit Cat possessed her. With a Resonance Step, she landed in front of the rabbit, her hands forming claws as she went to strike. Suddenly, her body went limp, and she crumpled to the ground, unconscious.
"Zhuqing!"
Su Yan and Tang Chi charged forward at the same time. Su Yan was half a step ahead, Blazing Spirit Cat zigzagging left and right to confuse the rabbit's vision.
Behind him, Tang Chi had built up a Thunderquake Wave. He slammed it into the ground, and blue-white lightning, like a dragon, shot straight toward the rabbit.
The little pink rabbit lightly leaped, dodging the lightning. Its eyes focused, and Tang Chi instantly fell, struck down.
Su Yan quickly retreated to the rear.
This was the first time in all their coordinated battles that they had been defeated so thoroughly.
They hadn't even touched a single hair on the opponent, and they were already nearly wiped out.
Was this the final trial Master had arranged?
Su Yan had no choice but to focus all his attention, locking onto that rabbit.
The rabbit stayed still in place, its red eyes meeting Su Yan's.
Su Yan thought he saw the rabbit smile. Then, darkness closed in, and he passed out.
That left Xue Ke sitting in her wheelchair. She couldn't fight back, couldn't even run. All she could do was watch helplessly as the rabbit hopped toward her.
As expected, with just one look, Xue Ke fainted too.
The pink rabbit let out a crisp laugh. Right there in the sunlight, it slowly transformed into a person.
In a pitch-black place, Su Yan's eyes snapped open. He jumped up and shouted, "Rabbit!"
Seeing the darkness all around, he froze. "Where is this?"
"Zhuqing!"
"Tang Chi!"
"Princess Xue Ke!"
"Lord Pika!"
"Where are you all!"
No one answered Su Yan. There wasn't even a sound.
Suddenly, the roar of an engine echoed around him. Two beams of light shone directly onto Su Yan.
Su Yan raised a hand to block the glare, squinting to see the source of the light. It was a vehicle.
"A car... Did I return to the modern world?" Su Yan murmured, slowly walking toward it.
The white truck's front bore a red stain, as if a bucket of red paint had been splashed all over it, spreading outward from certain spots.
"Hey, this car looks really familiar." Su Yan furrowed his brow, thinking hard, but he still couldn't find any memory from his past life related to this truck.
Just then, the truck suddenly revved up and rammed straight toward him.
Caught off guard, Su Yan was knocked to the ground. Luckily, it was moving slowly. He scrambled up, rolling and crawling, and ran in the opposite direction.
He remembered this car now.
This was the Mud Truck that had sent him to Douluo Continent.
He had no time to think about anything else. He could only sprint away.
The Mud Truck pursued relentlessly, two beams of light like white lines on either side of a track—impossible to cross, only to run headlong into the darkness.
Su Yan fled, the Mud Truck chased, and they were trapped with no escape.
Every time he turned his head, he saw the Mud Truck less than half a meter away, hastily possessing the Blazing Spirit Cat.
Su Yan's speed kept increasing, the Mud Truck's speed gradually quickened as well, the distance between man and vehicle never widening.
Su Yan couldn't help but curse loudly: "Damn it, the Mud Truck is still chasing me!"
--
On a grassy green lawn, a wooden table sat with two women on either side.
One wore an armored skirt, her hair casually piled atop her head, lifting a cup of tea for a light sip.
The other wore a pink dress, a black scorpion braid trailing on the ground, staring at the tea before her with pouted lips: "It's not good at all."
Beside them, the four little ones and an Electric Mouse lay on the grass, occasionally groaning in pain.
"Dong-ge, the Pope not letting you take disciples was truly a wise choice."
"If you don't speak, no one will think you're mute," Bibi Dong said. "For now, let them first have the courage to face fear; only then can they possibly overcome it later."
"Good thing my daughter doesn't want to be your disciple," the Pink-Clad Woman said, then hopped over to Bibi Dong's side, palm up. "The promised item, when will you give it to me?"
Bibi Dong took a token from her belt and tossed it onto the table: "This is a New Divine Land cabbage free-enjoy token. I couldn't find one for carrots, so make do."
"I don't care, I don't care, I want steamed carrots, roasted carrots, juiced carrots, stir-fried carrots, shredded carrots... all carrots!" The Pink-Clad Woman flopped directly onto the grass, throwing a tantrum, her body stiff as a board as she rolled back and forth. "I want carrots, I want them, I want them!"
Bibi Dong lightly sipped her tea: "Stop messing around. I'll take you straight to New Divine Land; whatever you want to eat, order freely!"
"Thank you, Dong-ge!" The Pink-Clad Woman's face changed faster than turning a page, leaping up to hug Bibi Dong tightly. "Dong-ge is the best!"
Just then, Su Yan let out a loud shout, his eyes snapping open.
He sat up and saw the two women tightly embracing, blinked, and muttered: "What kind of dream within a dream is this? My master and some unknown person are getting together."
Then he rubbed his eyes, but the two women were still locked in a tight hug.
Su Yan raised a hand and pinched his cheek—it hurt!
He snapped to full alertness and quickly bowed: "Master, I saw nothing!"
"What?" Bibi Dong was a bit puzzled, reaching up to peel the Pink-Clad Woman off herself and toss her aside. "Xiao Yan, well done, you passed the trial so quickly."
"Master, what just happened?" Su Yan still hadn't figured out what was going on.
Bibi Dong turned to look at the Pink-Clad Woman: "Ah Rou, explain it."
Ah Rou sat upright by the table, smiling: "I have a soul skill, an illusion technique, that can choose to send someone back to their most fearful moment."
"Most fearful..." Su Yan sucked in a breath of cold air. No wonder he'd ended up on a spontaneous journey with the Mud Truck—that was truly terrifying.
"To break the illusion, you must walk out of the fear. Any act of resistance will immediately dispel the technique," Ah Rou said, glancing at Bibi Dong. "This is one of Bi's Training Methods—the Heart Demon Training Method."
"And what about those who never dare to resist?" Su Yan asked curiously.
Ah Rou's smile faded, her red eyes fixed intently on Su Yan: "They will sleep forever."
"So that's..." Su Yan was shocked. Sure enough, none of Bi's Training Methods were without danger.
"Just kidding!" Ah Rou suddenly laughed, patting Su Yan on the shoulder. "They won't sleep forever. At worst, they'll wake up as idiots. Don't worry."
How was that any less terrifying!
Su Yan raised a finger, pointing at himself: "Then, Master, does this mean I passed?"
Bibi Dong smiled and nodded.
Without realizing it, he was one step closer to the Flame-Flame Fruit.
But Su Yan couldn't seem to cheer up. He looked at the three people and one mouse still unconscious on the ground, silently praying.
