Background

Naruto grew up isolated in Konoha because the Nine-Tails was sealed within him. Villagers treated him as a danger rather than a child, leaving him lonely and desperate for acknowledgment. When Jimo first meets him, Naruto is fishing because he has apparently spent his allowance on prank supplies; despite his hardship, he readily shares food and introduces himself as the future Hokage 1.

Jimo becomes Naruto’s first openly acknowledged friend. At the Academy entrance, Jimo rejects the adults’ hostility toward Naruto and argues that Naruto should be regarded as the one imprisoning the Nine-Tails rather than as the beast itself 3. This acceptance gives Naruto a sense of belonging he had not previously experienced.

Naruto initially fails the Academy graduation exam because he cannot perform the Clone Technique properly. Mizuki exploits this failure to manipulate him into stealing the Sealed Scroll, then reveals the truth of the Nine-Tails’ attack in an attempt to break him. Personality

Naruto is outspoken, impulsive, and intensely competitive. His dream of becoming Hokage is tied to his desire for the village to acknowledge his existence; he states this goal immediately upon meeting Jimo and repeats it throughout his career 1 5.

He is exceptionally stubborn under pressure. He refuses to abandon Tazuna after being poisoned, injures his own hand to prove he will no longer need rescuing, and continues training even when his hands are damaged by Rasengan practice 10 31.
