Background

Qingfeng first appears at White Emperor City as a fourth-ranked Qilin Rankings prodigy. He publicly supports Shen Yi after Shen defeats Su Jingtian, then joins Shen Yi and Ye Yixin for a private discussion about Ye's proposed Hidden Dragon Society. Qingfeng quickly loses interest in Ye Yixin's political ambitions. 221 222

Concerned by Monk Wuxin's unexplained absence from the White Emperor Martial Debate, Qingfeng asks Shen Yi to take the matter seriously. At Shen Yi's request, he performs a divination on the coming Hidden Dragon Martial Meet and foresees that “calamity comes from the heavens” while “a demon lurks beneath the earth.” The effort leaves him unconscious for a day and a night from mental exhaustion. 223 224 232

After the prophecy proves accurate, Qingfeng and Shen Yi agree to travel west in search of Wuxin. Qingfeng guides their journey with daily fortune readings, though his prediction of “great fortune” upon leaving Jade Gate Pass leads them into a black sandstorm. The misadventure brings them to the injured Xie Xiaolou and eventually into the conflict over the Loulan Treasure. 239 240 241

During the Loulan expedition, Qingfeng translates ancient Western Liang writing on gold foil recovered from the Rōran King's coffin, identifying the Indestructible Glazed Divine Skill and the Great Freedom Contemplation Method. He later overexerts himself calculating Wuxin's location and concludes that Xiao Zhao Temple is involved in the monk's disappearance. 258 259

At Xiao Zhao Temple, Qingfeng works with the Rakshasa to draw away guards, infiltrates the temple using wind arts and divination, and navigates a stone-forest formation by avoiding inauspicious routes. He exposes Bodhisattva Longshu's soul-gathering ritual, then reaches the Grandmaster Realm while preventing Longshu's escape. Qingfeng, Shen Yi, and Wuxin combine their strength to shatter Longshu's Bodhi Tree Dharma Aspect. 274 278 280

Following Wang Tianji's death, Qingfeng becomes Heaven's Secret Pavilion's Passing-on-Skills Elder, entrusted with preserving its divination inheritance. Qingfeng is eccentric, sleepy, and outwardly unserious. He frequently yawns, lounges about, and responds to danger with dry remarks or casual arrogance. Even when impressed by Shen Yi's breakthroughs, he dismisses him as “crazy.” 232 260
