Background / History

The Uchiha were one of Konoha's two founding clans alongside the Senju. Their status declined after Hashirama Senju dispersed the Senju throughout the village, weakening the prestige both founding clans had accumulated since the Warring States Period. As civilian access to ninjutsu expanded through the Ninja Academy system, the village increasingly replaced clan interests as Konoha's central political identity 153 154.

Within Konoha, the clan retained an elite and noble reputation, but its Sharingan made it a target of suspicion and suppression. Kaede attributes much of this hostility to the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, whose forbidden techniques were particularly effective against Sharingan users 7. The clan's isolation also harmed its standing with ordinary villagers, while Fugaku was criticized for focusing on political power rather than public support 20.

The Uchiha traditionally preserved their bloodline by marrying within the clan. They also maintained extensive private training and did not send every child to the Ninja Academy; exceptional children were trained internally by clan jonin instead 9 33.

During the Third Shinobi World War, the clan suffered substantial casualties. Some members were secretly relocated to the Land of Snow, while others remained on Konoha's battlefields and died 116.

After the Nine-Tails attack, Konoha's leadership seized Uchiha territory, froze clan assets, and sought to move the clan to an isolated part of the village. These actions further alienated Fugaku and intensified the clan's conflict with Konoha 153 154.

The clan ultimately executed a relocation plan disguised as the Uchiha massacre. Sharingan
