Shen Hui traveled to Yuanqiu County, uncovered the Plague Emperor Sect’s atrocities, and destroyed its forces there while bringing his Clear Wind Temple companions out of the gourd in stone bodies. He left Yanluo Valley ruined and learned from Liu Mengshu how the sect’s Gu and walking corpses worked.

• Shen Hui reunited with his souls, summoned several Clear Wind Temple elders from the Soul-Searching Gourd, and continued upstream with Lu Huan after parting from the rescued trader and his dog.
• At Yuanqiu County, Shen Hui killed the Plague Emperor Sect disciples who led him to a horde of walking corpses, then fought through the horde and discovered the sect was harvesting captive women to refine pills.
• Shen Hui questioned Mao Yong about the sect, confronted Liu Mengshu at the county yamen, and killed him after Liu’s soul-seizing technique and attacks failed.

• Shen Hui searched and stripped the valley’s temple, found Liu Mengshu’s entry in the Ascension Register, and summoned Liu Mengshu’s soul to question him.
• Liu Mengshu told Shen Hui that the Plague Emperor Sect had expanded through the Plague God Gu and explained how Corpse Baleful Intent formed walking corpses and Baleful Crystals.

Shen Hui destroyed the Miasma Mother, developed the Five Elements Divine Light, and traveled with Lu Huan through forgotten ruins and troubled towns. He returned to Clear Wind Temple, killed Second Senior Uncle and Ji Chen, and began a period of cultivation after uncovering a mysterious plaque.

• Shen Hui lured the Miasma Mother through the mountains and destroyed it with five-element lightning, then absorbed the Earth Baleful Spirit Pearl and learned the Five Elements Reversal Transmutation Art.
• Shen Hui rebuilt Grandmistress in a miniature stone body, experimented with Matter Transformation, and comprehended the Five Elements Divine Light.
• Shen Hui and Lu Huan traveled northeast, encountered a red fox and a brutal bear-and-snake fight, then explored the overgrown ruins of Wild Plains County Town with Snow-Embracing True Person.
• Shen Hui killed Hero Chen and his attendants after they abused market vendors and claimed their violence served justice.
• Shen Hui rode a giant water carp with Lu Huan, rescued the gifted Meng Zhang, gave him the Qi Attraction Art, and continued toward home with the old horse and Qingyi’s mare.
• Shen Hui returned to Clear Wind Temple and killed Second Senior Uncle, his disciples, and the woman who intervened, then burned Second Senior Uncle’s soul away.
• Shen Hui killed Ji Chen, refined the Blood Sword into Red Calamity, and found the temple drained of spiritual energy and its peach tree destroyed.
• Shen Hui fashioned the plaque bearing Shentu and Yulü’s names into a talisman, left Lu Huan with Ancestor Embracing Snow, and meditated on a hot-spring reef until he felt refreshed and clear-minded.

After completing his Golden Core, Shen Hui descended the mountain with Lu Huan and confronted soldiers, bandits, and supernatural threats amid the collapse of Great Shuo. He freed White Carp from the River Goddess shell and left with Lu Huan after hearing of a villager’s dangerous illness.

• Shen Hui completed his Golden Core, restored the mountain’s vegetation, and learned from Ji Chen that True Person Lingsu had fallen to demonhood and Clear Wind Temple had been devastated.
• Shen Hui and Lu Huan descended into a land of refugees, where he killed bandits at Cat Ridge and exposed Mu Baichuan’s plan to poison refugees and turn them into corpses.
• Shen Hui killed the general and left the deputy general in command, then learned that Great Shuo had fallen and that fleeing soldiers had begun attacking Qu County.
• The surviving soldiers found that those responsible for atrocities had died and that the others had gained unusual physical abilities, while Shen Hui continued on with Lu Huan and met Liu Qing, Bai Zhi, and Meng Huaiyuan.
• Shen Hui confronted the Lao Water Dragon King after summoning lightning, defeated the nine-headed naga, and took his thunder pearl before the group reached the prosperous White Water River.
• Shen Hui counseled Liu Qing, Bai Zhi, and Meng Huaiyuan before they parted ways, and Meng Huaiyuan left the ferry to return to the valley.

Shen Hui and Lu Huan traveled east, confronting corrupt beggars, a corpse plague, murderous shrines, and blood-tainted rice. After joining Mo Yunsong and Sun Chengying, Shen Hui stopped a general’s revenge-driven massacre and left with the group caring for an abandoned infant.

• Shen Hui treated Third Zhao, then taught Lu Huan to walk across water and traveled with her to Bonan County, where he challenged an old monk over careless almsgiving.
• Shen Hui sent White Skeleton and Red Calamity to uncover a beggar gang, then killed the gang’s chief and helped defeat a Tiger Demon that had been luring residents away at night.
• Shen Hui visited Wan'an Temple seeking Master Faming, then traveled through Luanzhou killing plague creatures and defeated the Old Man in a Mystic Yellow Robe of the Plague Emperor Sect.
• Shen Hui rescued a bride from a corrupt divine marriage and destroyed the Earth Deity statue hiding the remains of previous victims, then made a Bridal Goddess who promised justice for verified accusations.
• Shen Hui joined Cloud Pine, Sun Chengying, and Mo Yunsong on the road, where he discovered that Red Jade Rice strengthened people while draining their vital essence and shortening their lives.
• Shen Hui traded a blood pearl to Xu Ye for the Baleful Suppression Spirit-Infusion Art and continued toward Jade Plate County, where he and his companions survived a man-eating boar and an ambush.
• Shen Hui entered Qingxi County Seat and killed a general who planned to loot the city after taking revenge on the Zhou Family, while Mo Yunsong rescued the family’s infant grandson.
