System Overview

Mo Shang’s system is a trait-based system with two principal functions. First, it allows him to view the colored traits of others—entries that reveal innate qualities, fortune, cultivation potential, and hidden information. Second, it allows him to draw and equip traits for himself. Trait quality ranges from white to gold, with blue, purple, and purple-gold intermediate or superior grades. Fortune Traits are exceptionally rare entries associated with heaven-favored individuals, commonly known as Children of Fortune 2.

Mo Shang’s innate traits cannot be replaced. The number of traits he can equip increases with cultivation breakthroughs, beginning with one slot in the Body Tempering Realm 1. His system later began granting Trait Draw Counts directly, greatly reducing the former limitation imposed by ordinary draw opportunities 210. It can also, under unusual circumstances, equip a trait on another person; when it granted Jiang Shuyu the Culinary God trait, however, it warned that doing so could force it into dormancy 194.

Mo Shang’s Key Traits

Wait at Ease for the Exhausted (Purple)

This passive trait eliminates the need for conscious cultivation. Its description states: “Rest is for better cultivation, cultivation is for better rest. The equation holds—rest equals cultivation!” Once equipped, Mo Shang’s cultivation technique operates automatically at full power, even while he sleeps or idles. This effectively grants him AFK cultivation, allowing his cultivation to progress without effort 1.

Be Kind to Others (White)

A white trait with a subtle but powerful social effect: “Be kind to others, and others will be kind to you.” As long as Mo Shang does not hold ill intentions toward someone, it becomes easy for him to befriend that person. The trait contributed to his rapid friendship with Chen Tian and Mo Chen, among others 1 48 63.

Mediocre (White Fortune Trait)

One of Mo Shang’s innate traits. Its description identifies him as an “utterly Mediocre passerby” who will not attract excessive attention or experience major upheavals in life. The trait takes effect before other traits and causes people to subconsciously ignore Mo Shang’s presence, even when he stands among others 2 16. Though it does not prevent trouble when he travels with Children of Fortune, it ordinarily helps him avoid attention and hostility 63.

Rest Makes Me Happy (White)

Drawn after Mo Shang’s breakthrough to the Spirit Gathering Realm, this trait increases his cultivation speed by 300% while resting. The description reads: “Rest makes you happy. While resting, your cultivation speed increases by three hundred percent.” Combined with Wait at Ease for the Exhausted, it allows his automatically operating cultivation technique to progress at triple speed while he rests 5.

Death Immunity (Purple-Gold Entry: Undying)

Acquired in Chapter 14, this trait grants Mo Shang complete immunity to death. Any attack that would otherwise kill him is nullified, with no cooldown on the effect. However, it only triggers on fatal damage; attacks that leave him severely wounded without killing him still injure him normally 14 25.

The system reinforces the trait through a self-sustaining loop: as long as Mo Shang remains alive, the system cannot be destroyed; as long as the system remains intact, the Undying trait cannot fail; and as long as the trait remains active, Mo Shang cannot die 24. This makes fatal secret arts and suicidal exchanges viable tactics, though he originally lacked the recovery needed to remain combat-capable after surviving nonfatal damage 25.

Everlasting Vitality (Purple-Gold)

Everlasting Vitality grants Mo Shang a recovery rate of two percent of his physical condition per second. Its constant regeneration resolves the central weakness of Undying by allowing him to recover from injuries that do not trigger death immunity 54. Combined with Undying, it enables him to use life-risking secret arts far more safely than ordinary cultivators 54.

Refreshed and Invigorated (Purple-Gold)

Refreshed and Invigorated doubles Mo Shang’s combat power whenever his cultivation realm is lower than his opponent’s. Its effect gives him a substantial advantage in cross-realm fights and complements his Undying and Everlasting Vitality traits 127.

Transmigrator and Wealth Beyond Measure (Purple-Gold)

Mo Shang’s status panel later identifies Transmigrator and Wealth Beyond Measure as innate Purple-Gold traits. The former reflects his origins as a transmigrator from Huaxia, while the latter corresponds with his status as the Mo Clan’s young master and his extraordinary resources, including two trillion spirit stones 84 89.

Fortune Traits of Other Characters

Reborn (Purple-Gold) – Gu Qingzhou

A fortune trait that marks Gu Qingzhou as a Child of Fortune who has returned from a future timeline. Its description reads: “This time, I’m taking back everything that belongs to me. v me 50 and listen to my revenge story…” This trait grants him knowledge of future events and a significant advantage over others 2.

Sword Dao Champion (Purple-Gold) – Gu Qingzhou

Acquired shortly after awakening his Gengjin Sword Body, this trait signifies absolute mastery of the sword. The description states: “From the day I grasped a sword in my youth, I knew—I would be the Sword Dao Champion!” Though its specific effects are not listed, its purple-gold quality indicates it provides immense combat prowess with the blade 13.

Female Emperor Reincarnation (Purple-Gold) – Jiang Shuyu

This fortune trait reveals Jiang Shuyu as the reincarnation of an ancient female emperor. Its description reads: “A soul from the ancient era—can she once again reach the peak in this age?” It is accompanied by the allied Stunning Talent (Purple-Gold), which notes that “Genius is merely the threshold to meet her,” implying her aptitude surpasses ordinary genius 8.

Homecomer (Purple-Gold) – Chen Tian

Seen on Chen Tian, this trait describes a ruler who gave up everything to return to his homeland and thereby gained everything. The description suggests he crossed worlds, cultivated to the peak, and shattered the void to return—a classic Child of Fortune narrative 48.

Seeker (Gold) – Mysterious Woman

A golden fortune trait belonging to a woman Mo Shang encounters later. Its description reads: “Traveling through countless worlds, just to find you…” indicating she is on a multiversal quest to locate someone or something 49.

Innate Supreme (Purple-Gold) – Shi Hao

Shi Hao’s Fortune Trait confirms that, even without the Supreme Bone taken from him, he remains an Innate Supreme. It marks him as an exceptionally powerful Child of Fortune with immense physical and combat potential 135.

Double-Pupiled One (Purple-Gold) – Shi Yi

Shi Yi’s Fortune Trait reflects his legendary dual pupils. Its description emphasizes that Double Pupils alone are a path to invincibility and questions whether borrowing another’s bone was ever necessary 130.

Killer God (Purple-Gold) – Lu Sheng

Lu Sheng’s Fortune Trait states: “If there is no justice in this world, then kill! Kill until a bright and clear heaven and earth is carved out!” It reflects his vengeance-driven path and his commitment to retaining a moral bottom line despite his killing intent 148.

Blackened Supporting Character (Gold) – Zhou Yichen

Zhou Yichen’s Fortune Trait describes a supporting character whose strength triples after “going dark,” while redemption weakens him. Together with his Completely Mad and Sword Dao Mastery traits, it marks him as a gifted but volatile swordsman 121.

This blue trait ensures that Luo Wu’s effort is directly proportional to his gains. Its description: “Your effort is directly proportional to your gains.” It reflects his diligent body-refinement training regimen 28.

Truth (Gold) – Chen Tian

A golden trait implying Chen Tian grasps truth and learns anything quickly. Its description: “One who grasps truth learns anything quickly.” 48.

Study Master (Gold) – Mysterious Woman

A golden trait that makes her a quick learner in any field. Description: “She is a study master, quick to learn anything…” 49.

Single-Minded (Purple) – Mysterious Woman

This purple trait denotes a persistent person with determination and perseverance, willing to sacrifice everything to achieve her goal 49.

Stronger Against the Strong (Purple-Gold) – Lin Mochen

This trait causes Lin Mochen to become stronger when facing formidable opponents. Its description identifies it as an exceptionally powerful combat talent, helping explain why he can fight beyond the expectations of his cultivation level 90.

Culinary God (Blue) – Jiang Shuyu

The system temporarily bypassed its ordinary restrictions to equip Jiang Shuyu with this trait. Culinary God gives her talent in cooking and ensures that her food is delicious, resolving her formerly disastrous culinary ability 194.

• Jiang Shuyu and Gu Qingzhou: Their initial encounter is hostile, as they fight over Earth Spirit Liquid, destroying two mountain peaks 9. Gu Qingzhou acknowledges her strength after the battle, saying he did not expect someone like her to exist 9. Later, they become part of the same group, but their relationship remains competitive and somewhat distant. Gu Qingzhou is often annoyed by Jiang Shuyu’s closeness to Mo Shang, while she remains comparatively indifferent to him 9. Abilities

Death Immunity

Death Immunity is a Purple-Gold Entry trait that renders its owner immune to death. As Mo Shang discovered after testing it, the ability functions similarly to a life-saving talisman without any cooldown: any attack that would reduce his health to zero instead leaves him completely unharmed, with no damage carried over 14 25. The mechanism was clarified when he deliberately took a palm strike from a Return to Origin Realm cultivator; the attack dealt overflow damage, instantly emptying his health bar and triggering the immunity, leaving his clothes only slightly dirty 25.

However, the ability has a critical limitation: it negates death but does not negate damage or injury. If an enemy’s attack is insufficient to kill him outright, he can still be left on the verge of death with no combat capability 14 25. This means that while he cannot be killed, he can be incapacitated or captured. Mo Shang himself noted the lack of a corresponding recovery effect, making him a “sitting duck” once his combat power was exhausted 25. The trait also carries a strategic risk—if others discover his undying nature, he could become a target for dissection or experimentation 14 67.

This weakness is later mitigated by Everlasting Vitality, whose continuous recovery effect allows Mo Shang to heal from ordinary injuries as well as survive fatal ones 54.

Everlasting Vitality

Everlasting Vitality is a Purple-Gold Entry that restores Mo Shang’s physical condition by two percent per second. It provides the recovery ability that his Undying trait originally lacked, allowing him to recover from serious but nonfatal injuries rather than merely surviving them 54.

The trait’s regeneration is powerful enough to counter the self-destructive effects of Blood Sacrifice. By combining Everlasting Vitality with Death Immunity, Mo Shang can use otherwise fatal secret arts with far fewer consequences than ordinary cultivators 54.

Blood Sacrifice

Blood Sacrifice is a secret art obtained by Mo Shang from Jiang Shuyu, inscribed on a Blood-Colored Jade Slip. The technique burns the user’s essence, spirit, and soul—sacrificing everything—to gain a berserk surge of temporary power 14. For Mo Shang, activating the technique could raise his combat strength by an entire major realm, but its ordinary side effects range from crippling injury to death 14.

Initially, Mo Shang intended to reserve Blood Sacrifice until he found a way to offset its consequences. After obtaining Everlasting Vitality, he immediately tested it. The technique elevated his aura from the first level of Spirit Condensation Realm to the Unity Realm, while his regeneration negated its harmful backlash 54. Combined with Undying, it is now one of his most dangerous short-term combat options.

Ten Thousand Dao Star Art (Body-Tempering Effect)

The Ten Thousand Dao Star Art is a third-grade cultivation technique that primarily cultivates Star Power. Mo Shang received two versions: an incomplete prototype from the Falling Cloud Sect Leader and a perfected, complete version from Gu Qingzhou, who obtained it from Mo Shang’s future self 6 7. The technique automatically operates while idle, allowing Mo Shang to cultivate passively through his traits 29.

During a physical combat match in the Cang Domain Sect Tournament, Mo Shang discovered an unexpected side effect: the Ten Thousand Dao Star Art also tempers the body. Despite never having deliberately trained his physique, he matched and overpowered Luo Wu, a Celestial Image Sect disciple specializing in body refinement, using purely physical strength without any spiritual power 29. The realization shocked both the audience and Mo Shang himself, leading him to conclude that the art is an all-rounder technique that improves more than spiritual energy alone 29.

Falling Star Flame

The Falling Star Flame is a hidden Spirit Flame that emerged from a piece of Meteorite Iron that Mo Shang brought back from an otherworldly mission. When Mo Shang examined the iron, the flame passed through a barrier and sank into his body, acknowledging him as its master 34. Instead of burning, it brought a lingering warmth.

As the star flame entered him, a vast surge of Star Power flooded his body, causing the Ten Thousand Dao Star Art to activate automatically and refine the energy. This breakthrough elevated Mo Shang’s cultivation from the fifth level of the Spirit Gathering Realm to the ninth level in a single burst, crossing four minor realms 34. A star-shaped rune, identified by Jiang Shuyu as a Dao Mark, appeared on his forehead 34.

Starfall Spear

The Starfall Spear is a spirit artifact forged by Mo Shang using the Falling Star Flame and various materials provided by Gu Qingzhou, including Meteorite Iron and other rare components. During the forging process, Gu Qingzhou playfully added unusual materials, which Mo Shang accepted with exasperation, but the resulting weapon was named Starfall by Mo Shang 35.

The spear showed faint signs of intelligence immediately after forging—an unusual property, as ordinary spirit artifacts typically require long-term nurturing to develop sentience 35. Mo Shang later uses it in his battle against Shi Yi, employing its stellar patterns to meet the destructive power of Shi Yi’s Supreme Bone 132 133.

All Things Return to Spring

All Things Return to Spring is a healing secret art inherited from the True Martial Dao Venerable. It channels vast life force into a target, healing severe physical injuries in only a few breaths 67.

Mo Shang uses the technique to heal Guo Jingjing and Gu Qingzhou after their injuries in the secret realm 67. He later restores Lu Sheng from near-fatal injuries and heals Shi Hao completely, cementing his role as a reliable healer among his companions 150 138.

Dao Resonance

After breaking through to the Question Dao Realm, Mo Shang begins cultivating the Dao rather than merely essence, energy, and spirit. He can manifest a starlight robe and a Dao Resonance halo, a display that overwhelms ordinary people and makes them perceive him as an incomprehensible embodiment of the Dao 232.

This manifestation reflects a fundamental difference in level of existence rather than simply a release of spiritual energy. Jiang Shuyu remains unaffected by its mental pressure, highlighting her own extraordinary nature 232.

Refreshed and Invigorated

Refreshed and Invigorated is a Purple-Gold Entry obtained after Mo Shang’s system began providing an extraordinary number of draws. Its effect doubles his combat power whenever his cultivation is below that of his opponent 127.

The trait completes a powerful combat combination: Undying prevents fatal defeat, Everlasting Vitality restores him from injury, and Refreshed and Invigorated raises his combat power against stronger enemies 127.

Gengjin Sword Body

Gu Qingzhou awakened his Gengjin Sword Body in a dramatic celestial phenomenon that caused all blade-type weapons within a hundred miles to tremble and sing in unison, a sign of ten thousand swords paying homage 12. The Gengjin Sword Body is described as one of the top sword dao physiques, granting the user an innate affinity for the sword and extraordinary sword-related potential.

Upon awakening, Gu Qingzhou received a Heavenly Gift manifesting as a golden longsword, the Gengjin Soul-Slaying Sword, which enhances all his abilities by ten percent across the board and grows stronger alongside his cultivation 12. Combined with his Sword Dao Champion trait, Gu Qingzhou is effectively a peerless genius in swordsmanship.

Sword Dao Champion (Trait)

The Sword Dao Champion is a Purple-Gold trait that Gu Qingzhou acquired after awakening his Gengjin Sword Body.
