The twelve "Directors" of Heavenly Arena were currently: Heart Source School, Wind-Riding Sword School, Aikido, Silat, Phantom Fist, Tiger Style School, Snake-Form Jujutsu, Capoeira, Clark Fencing, Krav Maga, Kuk Sool Won Kicking, and Shintaido.
Generally speaking, only two or three "Directors" changed with each Fighting Tournament; there were never any sweeping changes.
The Fighting Tournament had already been held thirteen times.
Among them, only Heart Source School had never changed.
This time, Heart Source School had convened the "board meeting." It was also the first time Heart Source School had taken the initiative to call one, so the heads or founders of the other schools naturally could not refuse.
The senior referees of Heavenly Arena were clever enough to easily connect this to the previous chief referee selection.
Lucky was also a disciple of Heart Source School.
It was entirely reasonable to suspect that Lucky had done something.
So what changes would this "board meeting" bring?
During the week since the chief referee selection, the other "Directors" had gradually arrived in Keli City.
Now, only Heart Source School remained.
So who would Heart Source School send?
A tall man with his hair tied in a topknot, a cross-shaped scar on his face, and a long black beard.
He gave off an impression of towering ferocity.
When Lucky arrived to pick him up from the airport, he recognized him immediately.
Beyond Netero, Chairman Netero's son. He looked very much like Chairman Netero.
He was also an important figure in the manga's Succession Contest Arc.
Unfortunately, the manga had not been completed when Lucky was reborn, so his knowledge of Beyond Netero was limited.
He only knew that the man had been to the Dark Continent.
It could be said that this was unquestionably a heavyweight figure.
"You're the old man's newly accepted disciple?" Beyond kept looking Lucky over, trying to discern what was exceptional about him.
Lucky had been Chairman Netero's disciple for two years already. He was nowhere near "newly accepted."
It was simply that Beyond knew the old man's standards for taking disciples. Ordinary people could never catch his eye; even if they joined Heart Source School, they would be taught by someone else.
"You can call me Senior Brother. Of course, calling me Beyond is fine too." Beyond displayed a rather genial manner.
Anyone valued by the old man would naturally draw his attention as well.
For now, Beyond merely made a note of Lucky's existence.
It was now 1965.
In 1950, Beyond had traveled to the Dark Continent with V5's permission, and he alone had returned alive, battered and bedraggled.
Though many years had passed, he had never let go of the Dark Continent.
He was merely lying low for now. That failure had made him understand that exploring the Dark Continent was not something that could be accomplished through numbers alone.
Professionals were essential.
After getting into the car.
Beyond began asking about the matter at hand. The old man had told him very little.
He normally did not concern himself with such mundane affairs, but Heavenly Arena was an enterprise promoted by the old man, and he had never seen it for himself.
Thinking that many Nen Ability users might gather here, along with Lucky's involvement, he had agreed to attend this "board meeting."
As for exactly how he would act, that would be decided entirely by his own inclinations.
Lucky had already prepared for this and handed Beyond a packet of materials containing the investigation results he had compiled over this period.
"This time, I asked my father to convene the meeting because I want to change Heavenly Arena's increasingly corrupt state. As it has developed, some of its rules have also become outdated..."
Beyond began reading through the materials.
He skimmed through them at first, showing little interest in the earlier sections concerning corruption.
But when he reached the later pages, his movements gradually slowed.
Since they were convening a meeting, they naturally could not merely raise problems. They also had to propose solutions.
And the more Beyond read, the more interested he became.
By the time they arrived at Heavenly Arena, Beyond still had not finished reading. He kept looking over the materials as he walked.
Even after reaching the luxurious suite prepared for him, Beyond still had not finished. He slowed down even further, sometimes flipping back to earlier pages.
His eyes even gleamed, and his face revealed the delight of someone who had found something interesting.
Lucky waited beside him the entire time.
Only after Beyond had finished did he look at Lucky with blazing eyes and ask, "You prepared all these proposals?"
"These are merely some humble opinions of mine," Lucky said modestly.
Beyond raised the materials in his hand. "That's quite bold. And judging from these materials, this probably isn't the full extent of your ideas, is it?"
Beyond had now developed a strong interest in Lucky.
"There are indeed some ideas I did not include," Lucky admitted.
"Haha, this is too interesting!" Beyond even burst into laughter.
"I can support these proposals of yours, but the others may not be so agreeable." He could not force the others into submission.
What Beyond wanted to know was whether Lucky had other ideas.
Or whether he had made other preparations.
Here, Beyond thought too highly of Lucky. Everything had happened rather suddenly, and this was a spur-of-the-moment idea from Lucky that had pushed forward his original plans, so he naturally had not been fully prepared.
Still, he answered Beyond, "I do not expect every clause to pass. It will be enough if some of them do."
He then showed his confidence, while also revealing his "ambition" before Beyond.
"I'm not in a hurry. We can take this slowly. I have plenty of time, and I have also notified other Martial Arts Schools this time."
Lucky had not done nothing. These materials were naturally only one part of his preparations.
He had also notified other Martial Arts Schools, hoping to expand this "meeting."
The "Directors" were not fixed. Though those Martial Arts Schools were not currently Directors, they still held considerable influence, and some had participated in Heavenly Arena's founding.
As long as the interests of most people could be satisfied, passing some clauses would not be a problem.
Beyond admired people with ambition and ability.
"Your proposal is very interesting, and I'm quite interested as well. Let me lend you a hand. The Mafia forces you've approached are still too weak. How could they compare to those large corporations?"
Beyond intended to help Lucky.
He did not expect Lucky to repay him. He simply wanted to see what changes would occur if Heavenly Arena truly became what these proposals envisioned.
By then, even the old man would probably have quite the headache.
And if it was managed well, it could actually help him too, though that would take time to bear fruit.
