Background / History

At three, Lingor joined Aegon, Viserys, Samantha, and Daniella in the Dragonpit. Unlike the more animated children, he listened to Aegon's stories with a stern expression and muttered long, incomprehensible sentences to himself. Rey nevertheless found that even Lingor cheered at the prospect of honeyed oatmeal, egg bread, and carrot pancakes 107.

Lingor was already bonded to a black young dragon patterned like stars by the time the children waited for another egg to hatch. He corrected Samantha's belief that hatching depended on a dragon's mood, insisting that it depended on the hatchling's strength 118.

He accompanied Aegon, Viserys, and Samantha on an unauthorized trip from King's Landing to Summerhall to purchase a Name Day gift for Lonzell. Lingor tried to persuade Aegon to return home once they were confronted, but ultimately stood beside Aegon to shield Viserys and Samantha. He later apologized to Lonzell for the escapade 129 130.

Lonzell answered the apology with reassurance and instructed Lingor to summon his dragon. Lingor called the black dragon from its nest in High Valyrian, marking the first time he successfully called it out 130. Under Lonzell's supervision and Rey's aerial escort, he completed his first flight soon afterward 131.

Personality

Lingor is portrayed as unusually solemn for his age. Little Aegon worries that his stern, rule-bound disposition resembles Hofa Lawkeeper's rigid temperament 107.

He is cautious and initially timid, particularly when the children evade their lessons, but he is not passive. He joins Aegon in protecting the younger children, admits fault when confronted by his father, and follows dragon-riding instructions even when exhilarated by flight 129 130 131.

Lingor also shows consideration toward others. When Viserys becomes distressed by Igaras's behavior, Lingor tries to reassure him that the dragon's fixation may be temporary 138.
