"There are...so many people!"
Ul and Levy stared at the packed beach, momentarily stunned.
Normally, news of monsters appearing here couldn't have been kept quiet. The area should have been deserted lately—practically devoid of people.
So what was going on now?
Ul looked over the crowd in confusion. It didn't take long for him to spot what was unusual.
These weren't ordinary people. Each of them wore a different guild emblem, which meant everyone here belonged to a guild.
Of course!
Not all of those guilds could be Mage Guilds.
Even so, it was astonishing to see so many guild members gathered here!
Could they have come for that demon too? Ul wondered.
He suspected the local fishermen might have worried that a single guild wouldn't be strong enough to deal with the demon, so they'd gone to all the major guilds and posted a job!
But soon,
he dismissed the idea.
For one thing, the commission fees alone for hiring so many guild members would have been more than a group of fishermen could afford.
Even if they only had to pay one reward for bringing in so many guild members to complete the job, the commission fee on top of that would still be a considerable sum.
After all, a guild wasn't a charity.
To prevent people from posting jobs as a prank, guilds sometimes required commission fees and rewards to be paid separately. The commission fee was mandatory when posting a job and was mainly used to keep the guild running.
The reward, on the other hand, was the money the Mage who accepted the job would receive.
......
"Ul..." Levy tugged at Ul's sleeve, looking worried.
She had clearly noticed that something was wrong too.
Seeing this, Ul gave Levy a casual head pat and smiled.
