Background and History
Yang Wu trains at the Yi'an District Limit Dojo. He meets Bai Yang when they and Luo Feng pass the same preliminary martial artist assessment; the three exchange contact information and share a meal 8. When they rush to help Luo Feng's father during Zhang Haobai's attack, Yang Wu and Bai Yang check on the injured men while Luo Feng confronts the attackers 9.
Before the practical assessment, Bai Yang identifies weaknesses in Yang Wu's training and uses genetic energy to adjust his physique. Yang Wu endures severe pain and later feels a marked improvement 17 18. He enters the monster town without relying on Luo Feng's help and returns with the five monster ears needed for the assessment 18 19.
After another five days of guidance from Bai Yang, Yang Wu leaves the Limit Dojo for Mount Hua. He explains that, without money or connections, he sees little prospect of advancing there. Bai Yang accepts him and gives him a Monster Cell, establishing a mental bond between them 29 30. At Bai Yang's Kunshan stronghold, the other members greet Yang Wu as “Manager Yang,” recognizing his position as a confidant rather than one of Bai Yang's servants 30.
Personality
Yang Wu is sociable and quick to build connections: he suggests the meal after the preliminary assessment and keeps in touch with Bai Yang for cultivation advice 8 17. His willingness to face the practical assessment alone and withstand Bai Yang's painful treatment shows determination 17 18. He remains patient in his pursuit of martial arts even when poor aptitude slows his later progress 316.
