A Violent Spray

Though the steel frame had been bent out of shape, the impact had also torn open a large patch of skin on the Mutant's forehead, revealing the bone beneath. A mass of dark greenish-black bone growths had already formed across its skull. No wonder its defenses were so incredible.

Fang Linyan sucked in a sharp breath at the sight. He had planned to rush in and finish it off, but getting close didn't seem like a wise idea now. The thing could take an absurd amount of punishment, and one casual slap from it could leave a man shooting blanks!

So he darted straight into the cockpit and locked the door behind him. Once he had done that, Fang Linyan shouted at the stunned pilot beside him:

"What are you standing around for? Take manual control of the plane right now! Do exactly as I say!"

The pilot hesitated. Fang Linyan grabbed him by the collar and roared:

"Idiot! Can't you tell what matters here? I'm not hijacking the plane. They're the real terrorists!"

The pilot fell silent.

Fang Linyan forced his head toward the monitor and said, enunciating every word:

"Did you see what that monster was doing just now? Tell me, tell me! Do you want your balls to burst in its mouth five minutes from now?"

The last line was clearly persuasive. The Bearded Captain's face twitched, and he replied without hesitation:

"OH, SHIT. What do you want me to do?"

By then, the Mutant had recovered from the agony inflicted by the Blood Spider. It roared, bared its gleaming teeth, and charged forward, slamming headfirst into the sealed cockpit door.

A thunderous bang rang out!

The deafening noise assaulted the nerves of every surviving passenger. The Mutant had rammed the cockpit door, and now it was pounding on it with clenched fists.

The sound made the Bearded Captain suck in a sharp breath and instinctively squeeze his legs together. Clearly, the threat of having his balls burst had sunk in.

Fortunately, the passenger plane's cockpit door had been specially reinforced. Under normal circumstances, no matter how strong or fierce an ordinary person was, the odds of breaking in by force from outside were practically zero.

But the enraged Mutant didn't care. As it continued hammering the door with its fists, it also attacked with wild knee strikes and kicks.

Fang Linyan grabbed the railing beside him and, over the deafening clatter, yelled at the captain:

"Do I have to spell it out for you? Drift, fishtail, ram it, do a front flip, pull a Pugachev's Cobra—use everything you've got! If that door breaks, we're all dead!"

The Bearded Captain replied with a straight face:

"Sir, I'm a pilot, not a race-car driver. And the Pugachev's Cobra can only be performed by a fighter jet with better maneuverability."

Fang Linyan was so furious he nearly laughed. He was about to respond when the plane suddenly began to sway, making it hard to stay upright. Then a tremendous force hit. He had barely managed to cling to the railing, narrowly avoiding being flung away. As it turned out, the captain had decided he wasn't ready to meet a gruesome end after all and had launched into a sharp dive and turn. The cabin instantly descended into chaos.

The Mutant, busy attacking the cabin, was no exception. It flailed wildly and was flung away, its head slamming into the blue-and-white wall with a bang. An ordinary person would probably have been knocked unconscious by that, but the creature showed no sign of passing out. If anything, it seemed even more enraged. It sprang up from the floor, sprinted forward, leaped high into the air, and slammed into the cabin door with all its might!

With a deafening crash, the reinforced door caved inward.

Seeing that its attack had worked, the Mutant shrieked with excitement as if it had been injected with a stimulant. Then it kicked, pounded, and rammed the door even faster and harder. Its demonic roars and the thunderous impacts echoed through the cabin, sending chills down everyone's spine.

The Mutant's hands were now a mangled mess, with the white bone of several finger joints exposed. The sight was horrifying. It kept ramming the door with its knees, forehead, and elbows, using such brutal force that those, too, had been smashed to bloody pulp, their bones exposed and cracked. Dark red blood smeared the area, filling it with a pungent, strange stench.

If this had happened to an ordinary person, the pain would surely have knocked them unconscious long ago. But this thing didn't seem to feel pain at all. It kept pounding and ramming the door with its bony fists and knees.

Seeing this, the Bearded Captain didn't need Fang Linyan to urge him. Sweat ran cold down his spine as he realized that if the creature broke in, he'd have almost no chance of survival. He focused intently and began showing off his driving skills—or rather, his piloting skills. He flew as erratically as possible, leaving the passengers' travel experience in the cabin behind him.

Once the Bearded Captain got serious, the Mutant immediately rolled around like a tumbleweed, unable to keep its balance. It roared in fury and even bit at the seats, as ferocious as a rabid beast.

At that point, Fang Linyan was most worried that the monster would fly into a rage and start killing everyone. If it did, he'd be utterly helpless. Fortunately, he was quick-witted. He could tell that becoming a biological weapon had severely impaired the creature's intelligence, so he took precautions, grabbed the intercom, and shouted:

"Hey! Idiot, I'm over here! Come get me!"

Hearing Fang Linyan's voice, the Mutant seemed to remember something. Its eyes bloodshot, it roared and charged over to pound on the door again, as if Fang Linyan had taunted it. Its hatred was locked firmly onto him.

In its furious rage, the Mutant suddenly grabbed a seat beside it to steady itself. The muscles in its face twitched continuously, and its neck suddenly swelled up like a toad's. Then a thick stream of dark green fluid abruptly sprayed violently from its mouth, aimed straight ahead!
