Although the steel frame had been bent out of shape, a large patch of skin on the mutant's forehead had also been torn open, revealing the stark white bone beneath. It was clear that a mass of greenish-black bone tumors had already grown on its skull—no wonder its defensive power was so astonishing.
Seeing this, Fang Linyan also sucked in a sharp breath. He had originally wanted to rush in for a finishing blow, but now it seemed that closing in for melee combat was not a wise idea. The opponent's resilience was freakish, and a casual slap could send someone into a state of incapacity!
So he decisively ducked straight into the cockpit and locked the door behind him. After doing this, Fang Linyan barked directly at the stunned pilot beside him:
"What are you standing there for! Take manual control of the plane right now, and do exactly as I say!"
The pilot hesitated at the words. Fang Linyan grabbed him by the collar and roared:
"Idiot! Can't you tell what's important here? I'm not a hijacker at all—they're the real terrorists."
The pilot remained silent.
Fang Linyan forced his head down toward the monitor screen and said, word by word:
"Did you see what that monster was just doing? Tell me, tell me! Do you want your own brains to burst like pulp in its mouth five minutes from now?"
That last sentence was clearly extremely persuasive. The bearded captain's face twitched, and he said bluntly:
"Oh, shit. What do you want me to do?"
At that moment, the mutant had already recovered from the intense pain caused by the Blood Spider. It let out a loud roar, bared its gleaming white fangs, and charged forward! It slammed headfirst into the sealed cockpit door.
A thunderous bang rang out!
The deafening noise assaulted the nerves of every surviving passenger. The mutant rammed its head into the cockpit door, then began hammering it with clenched fists.
The sound made the bearded captain suck in another sharp breath, and he couldn't help but squeeze his legs together—clearly, the word "pulp" had already left a deep impression.
Fortunately, the cockpit door of a passenger plane was specially reinforced. No matter how strong or ferocious an ordinary person might be, trying to break it down by brute force from outside was, under normal circumstances, almost impossible.
But the berserk mutant didn't care about any of that. While pounding with its fists, it also kicked and kneed the sturdy door wildly.
Fang Linyan grabbed the railing beside him and, amid the clattering racket, shouted at the captain:
"Do I have to teach you everything! Use drifts, tail slides, push moves, front flips, Pugachev's Cobra—anything! Once that door breaks, we all die!"
The bearded captain said seriously:
"Sir, I'm a pilot, not a race car driver. As for the Pugachev's Cobra you mentioned, only high-performance fighter jets can pull that off."
Fang Linyan laughed in exasperation and was about to retort when he suddenly felt the plane's fuselage begin to shake, making it hard to stay upright. Then, a tremendous force hit him. Thanks to his tight grip on the railing, he avoided being flung away in a sorry mess. The captain, unwilling to face the grim fate of being turned into pulp, had finally started fighting back, executing a sharp dive and turn. The cabin immediately became a chaotic mess of tumbling bodies.
Of course, the mutant, which had been furiously attacking the door, was no exception. It flailed and was thrown directly across the cabin, its head smashing bang into the blue-and-white wall panel. For an ordinary person, that would have knocked them out cold. But the mutant showed no sign of losing consciousness; instead, it seemed enraged. It scrambled up from the floor, took a running start, leaped high, and slammed violently into the cockpit door!
With a deafening crash, the sturdy door actually caved in by a large dent.
Seeing that its attack had worked, the mutant let out an excited roar, as if injected with adrenaline, and began battering the door with even greater speed and force. The demonic howls and the thunderous pounding echoed through the cabin, sending chills down everyone's spine.
By now, the mutant's hands were a bloody mess, with white bone exposed at several knuckles—a gruesome sight. It continued ramming the door with its knees, forehead, and elbows, each impact tearing flesh and revealing cracked, splintered bone. Dark red blood splattered everywhere, giving off a pungent, eerie smell.
If this had happened to an ordinary person, they would have long since passed out from the pain. But this creature felt nothing. It kept smashing the door with its exposed fists and knees.
Seeing this, even without Fang Linyan's urging, the bearded captain felt cold sweat trickling down his spine. He knew that if that thing broke in, he'd be as good as dead. So he focused all his attention on showing off his driving—no, his flying skills—making the plane as turbulent as possible. As for the passengers' travel experience in the rear cabin, that was the last thing on his mind.
Once the bearded captain got serious, the mutant immediately turned into a tumbling ball, unable to keep its balance. It roared in fury and frustration, even biting at the nearby seats like a wild beast gone mad.
At this point, Fang Linyan's biggest fear was that the monster would go on a killing spree out of rage, which would leave him utterly devastated. Fortunately, he was quick-witted. He could tell that after becoming a biological weapon, its intelligence had plummeted. So, as a preemptive measure, he grabbed the intercom and shouted:
"Hey! Idiot! I'm over here! Come get me!"
Hearing Fang Linyan's voice, the mutant seemed to remember something. Its eyes turned bloodshot, and it howled as it charged again to pound on the door, as if taunted by Fang Linyan, its hatred locked firmly onto him.
In its violent rage, the mutant suddenly grabbed a nearby seat to steady itself. Its facial muscles twitched, and its neck swelled like a toad's. Then, from its mouth, it violently sprayed a large stream of thick, dark green liquid straight ahead!
