Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Tier 1 Bio-Weapon Mutant 44 A terrorist is parasitized by a Gerard Parasite. Defeating him becomes worth an additional 45% mission progress.
Greater host control 47 The parasite gains more control over its host, increasing the Mutant's strength and intelligence; no new tier is specified.

History

During Fang Linyan's attempt to stop a hijacking, a terrorist aboard Flight 11 becomes the Mutant. It kills a passenger and pursues Fang Linyan through the cabin, repeatedly battering the cockpit door while the captain maneuvers the plane to throw it off balance 44 45 46.

The Mutant breaks through the damaged door as the plane lands in Boston. It follows Fang Linyan onto the tarmac, kills a police officer, and comes under fire from police and SWAT teams. A subsequent notification reports that its life fluctuation has fallen below three points and that its death can be basically confirmed 47 48.

Appearance

The transformation leaves the former passenger visibly inhuman 45 46.

  • Writhing shapes move beneath the skin of his face; his skin pales as net-like blood vessels appear 45.
  • Purple-black muscles swell until they burst through his suit and, in places, his skin 45.
  • Greenish-black bone tumors grow across his skull 46.

Abilities & Skills

Strength and durability

  • A punch sends a large man into the cabin wall, causing devastating facial injuries 45.
  • His muscles push out a crossbow bolt that penetrates only partway into his shoulder; a poisoned coating has no apparent effect 45.
  • He continues battering the reinforced cockpit door despite torn flesh, exposed bone, and wounds from its jagged edges 46 47.

Corrosive spray

  • He sprays thick, dark green liquid from his mouth. It burns passengers' skin and corrodes the cockpit door, helping him break through it 46 47.

Parasite-driven behavior

  • His intelligence initially declines after becoming a biological weapon, allowing Fang Linyan to keep him focused on the cockpit by calling to him 46.
  • Near landing, he steadies himself against the plane's movements and presses his attack more deliberately 47.
  • Fang Linyan's Blood Spider inflicts intense pain despite the Mutant's resistance to ordinary injury, temporarily stopping him on two occasions 45 47.

Relationships

  • Fang Linyan — His primary target throughout the flight and after landing. Fang Linyan later recognizes the Mutant's persistent hatred as part of the terrorists' reaction to his betrayal 45 46 47 50.
