Even if the Mutant could slaughter all these soldiers before it, what awaited it next were the "Saber-Toothed Tiger" anti-riot armored vehicles that had already driven onto the airport tarmac.
The multi-functional combined semi-enclosed turrets mounted on these vehicles were equipped with an M2 Heavy Machine Gun, a true killing tool. It fired 12.7x99mm Browning machine gun rounds and could spray thousands of bullets in just ten seconds, whipping up a terrifying storm of steel. The Mutant would be as good as dead in front of that thing.
So, even though he knew the Mutant was still glaring at him viciously, even though it was only thirty or forty meters away, Fang Linyan honestly raised his hands, stopped in his tracks, and shrugged at the approaching cops.
"Sir, sir, please listen to me, could you move that muzzle away? I'm as harmless as a Boston Red-billed Gull, I swear!"
"The reason I ran so fast is because that monster behind me saw me as a hot sandwich—one with peanut butter and an extra-long hot dog, no less. Trust me, if you were in my shoes, you'd be running just as fast."
The cop looked Fang Linyan up and down, then moved the gun aside, but still kept his distance while speaking seriously.
"OK, sir, you're safe now. But you've just come out of a biochemical contamination zone, so you need to undergo inspection and decontamination before returning to normal life. Please sit down right here, and make any reasonable requests—we'll do our best to accommodate you."
Fang Linyan sat down without hesitation. He was about to turn his head to see the Mutant's fate, but before he could, a series of messages flashed across his retina.
"Alert: The life fluctuation of the Low-tier Living Weapon Mutant has dropped below 3 points and is still declining."
"It can be basically confirmed that the Low-tier Living Weapon Mutant is dead."
"You have obtained 45% completion."
"Your task completion has increased from 50% to 95%."
"Your current task completion evaluation is B."
After seeing this series of prompts, Fang Linyan frowned. He always felt something was off, as if he had overlooked something crucial.
"No way, why is it a B evaluation? Is this really the end?"
Just then, another series of messages popped up.
"Alert: All passengers on American Airlines Flight 11 (flying from Boston Logan International Airport to Los Angeles) have left the aircraft. Among them, six are seriously injured and eleven have minor injuries. They are currently receiving treatment or being transported to hospitals, so they can be considered in a safe state, and their fates have been changed."
"Main Quest: Reverse History is about to end. Countdown: sixty seconds."
"Fifty-nine."
"Fifty-eight."
"..."
As the countdown ticked urgently, the sense of dissonance in Fang Linyan's heart grew stronger.
Fortunately, he was the type to stay calm in a crisis. He slowly closed his eyes and carefully recalled every single thing that had happened since boarding the plane. Countless details flowed through his mind like a stream.
Suddenly, Fang Linyan's eyes lit up, and he gasped sharply, a wild joy flashing in them.
"I get it! I get it! The truth... the truth was hidden so deep, so that's how it was!"
Having made up his mind, Fang Linyan froze for a moment, then stood up. The cop beside him frowned and shouted.
"Hey! What are you doing? Sit down!"
Fang Linyan glanced at him, smiled faintly, and flipped his wrist. Between his fingertips was a nail over ten centimeters long—one of the bolts he used for his homemade crossbow.
Then, without hesitation, he turned his hand and stabbed the thin spike deep into his own chest!!!!
The cop stared at the scene, completely dumbfounded. After a few seconds, he screamed into his radio.
"I need medical support here! Repeat, I need medical support! A passenger has suddenly self-harmed!!!"
After taking that stab, the poison smeared on the bolt immediately took effect, and Fang Linyan trembled in agony. But as if that wasn't enough, he gritted his teeth and yanked the bolt out again, then drove it straight into his throat!!
With that strike, the muscles on Fang Linyan's face twitched and spasmed uncontrollably. He felt weak and collapsed softly, his vision even starting to go dark. But then, a prompt appeared.
"..."
"Your throat (vital point) has suffered 28 points of damage. You have entered a state of muteness."
"Your remaining health is 6 points, less than 10% of your maximum health."
"You have entered a dying state. Your vision, hearing, taste, and mobility have all been severely reduced."
At this point, besides the pain, Fang Linyan slipped into a semi-comatose state. His connection to the outside world was heavily weakened. Everything around him seemed to spin and fade away. Wherever he looked, there was only a blurry gray darkness.
Sounds from outside were also muffled and indistinct, somewhat like being submerged underwater. The clearest noises were his own breathing and heartbeat.
But just as he entered the dying state, another series of prompts appeared on his retina.
"Terrorist: Jerry Lin has lost combat capability. You have obtained 20% completion. Your current completion is 110%."
"You have annihilated the 7th Armed Group of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda. You have obtained an additional 20% completion bonus. Your current completion is 130%."
"Countdown ended. Main Quest: Reverse History is officially complete. You have successfully rendered all terrorists combat-ineffective! You have successfully changed the fate of the majority of passengers on this aircraft!"
"Task base evaluation: Good (B+)"
"Your task completion has exceeded 100%!!"
"Your task evaluation has been upgraded by one rank."
"Task evaluation upgraded to: Astonishing (A+)."
"Your task completion is 130%. The excess 30% completion will be converted into evaluation points. Converting..."
"Your task evaluation has been upgraded by one rank."
"Your task evaluation upgraded to: Nearly Impossible (S)."
