On the way down the mountain.
"Captain Brook, you were so cool just now! You took out that trashy Commander in a single move. If it were me, I don't even know if I could've beaten him."
Shakky continued fiddling with the cane sword Brook had gifted her, repeatedly drawing and sheathing it, mimicking Brook's signature draw-sword posture, clearly having the time of her life.
"You need to train properly, too. Don't go dragging us down later, or you'll end up being surpassed by Antonio!"
Brook said calmly; defeating a mere Commander was nothing to be happy about.
"I'm not about to let a guy like Antonio surpass me! My martial arts aren't bad at all; I was making a real name for myself back on the Sabaody Archipelago."
Shakky's talent was indeed far superior to Antonio's, and she progressed incredibly fast when it came to speed-based martial arts.
"Let's go. We'll head to the bustling town on Asuka Island to find Tom and Antonio and see what they've managed to turn up."
Guided by Shakky's crude map, they successfully made their way from the primitive tribe to the bustling town. Tom had nearly finished exploring the area, but he hadn't found what he needed, leaving him a bit disappointed.
Just then, a small pirate ship sailed into the island's harbor. They docked with reckless abandon, scaring the islanders into hiding, while others rushed off to notify the local Marine branch.
"Redfield, please, let us go! I'll never try to use you again!!"
A pirate who looked like a captain was begging a man who exuded an aristocratic air. He never imagined that the pirate he'd recruited so casually would be this powerful.
"Wait here. I'm going to find out if the legendary Demon Sword truly exists!"
Count Patrick Redfield looked at these pirates with disgust. He had set sail to pursue a certain person; he had been captivated by the blueprint Humming Brook had once painted, and he had come to view Brook as his idol.
After setting sail, he joined a pirate crew that seemed very enthusiastic. He was always the first to charge into battle, and his strength grew rapidly.
Upon entering the Grand Line, he had gained the ability to see through people's thoughts, which allowed him to witness the captain's filthy intentions time and time again.
The captain kept ordering him to lead the charge only because Redfield's strength had already surpassed his own; the captain was intentionally trying to get him killed, which made Redfield feel betrayed.
So, the next time the captain ordered him to charge a stronger pirate crew, Redfield wiped out the enemy and then gave his own captain a brutal beating, taking over as captain of the ship himself.
Later, hearing that the Rumbar Pirates, where Humming Brook belonged, had been wiped out, his heart was filled with sorrow. Not long after, news of Brook kept appearing, and Redfield realized that Brook seemed to be sailing back through the Grand Line, recruiting new companions.
He was desperate to follow in the footsteps of his senior, Brook. While passing nearby islands, he heard the legend of the Seven-Star Sword, so he hijacked these pirates to sail for him, arriving at Asuka Island to see if he could obtain a suitable weapon to further increase his strength.
That way, he wouldn't be a burden when he joined Brook's crew, and he would ensure that Brook's new pirate crew would never face danger again.
"All of you, get up there! Don't even think about waiting for me to get on the island and then sailing away! Yes, I am a devil, haha~"
Redfield saw through all the thoughts of these pirates. Although he enjoyed this power of control, seeing the various vicious and ugly thoughts of others made him increasingly disgusted by these pirates.
And so, all the pirates were driven onto the island by Redfield, leaving only one pirate who didn't know how to sail to guard the ship. These pirates were forced to follow Redfield to search for the legendary Demon Sword.
Communicating via Den Den Mushi, Brook quickly found Tom and the others and they reunited.
"Captain Brook, did you find the Demon Sword you were looking for?" Antonio asked hurriedly.
"I've successfully found it. Did you two have any luck? It's perfect timing, as I need to have a scabbard made here."
Brook drew the Seven-Star Sword from his back, letting Fish-Man Tom and Antonio witness the legendary Demon Sword.
"It's truly filled with an evil aura, worthy of being called a Demon Sword. If the Captain trusts me, I'll head back to the ship and personally craft a satisfactory scabbard for you."
Fish-Man Tom's fingers twitched; he couldn't wait to get his hands on his hammer. He served as the shipwright and helmsman on board, and since the Yomi was a new ship with little maintenance needed, he hadn't worked in a long time.
"Very well, I'll leave it to you, Tom!"
Brook didn't mind; as long as it was functional, that was all that mattered.
"Captain, our pirate crew should have a big feast to celebrate you getting your new sword!!"
Shakky suggested immediately; she couldn't wait to try the island's specialty dishes.
After receiving consent, the group headed toward the bustling district in high spirits. However, the people on the road seemed to be in a hurry, as if some terrifying person were about to arrive.
They saw an elegant man ahead, driving a group of pirates forward, grabbing people at random to ask about the legendary Demon Sword.
Redfield also spotted Brook and his group. His eyes widened, filled with disbelief and joy; he had actually run into his senior, Brook, just like this.
"Senior Brook, I am Count Patrick Redfield! I set sail specifically for the dream you spoke of. Please, take me in!"
Count Patrick Redfield looked at Brook with excitement, ignoring the pirates around him; he only wanted to board Brook's ship.
Count Patrick Redfield? Brook was also shocked. A future big shot like this was actually coming to join him voluntarily? Brook was so happy he couldn't find the words to speak.
"I seem to remember you. We chatted when I docked for supplies, didn't we?"
Brook suppressed his excitement and said steadily, his expression remaining unchanged, still icy.
"Yes, Senior Brook! You really do remember me! Please, allow me to join you, I beg you!"
Count Patrick Redfield said with a serious face, filled with anticipation.
Captain Brook is putting on his cold act again. Haha, I wonder if we're getting another crewmate.
The Captain's charisma is amazing. Someone actually sought him out. I'm also grateful the Captain saved me, allowing me to board this reliable ship.
As expected of the Brook I acknowledge; his admirers are spread across the four seas.
Captain Brook, hurry up and finish building the crew so we can head to the New World and defeat the Roger Pirates!
Redfield had once again seen the thoughts of the crew members around Brook, but he suddenly realized he couldn't see through Brook's thoughts at all. As expected of Senior Brook, he was capable of blocking his ability.
"Very well, from now on, you are our comrade."
Brook extended his hand to welcome Redfield's addition, his heart already soaring with joy.
"That's wonderful, Senior Brook—no, Captain Brook."
Redfield immediately grasped Brook's cold hand in excitement, feeling somewhat at a loss for what to do.
