Xu Feng is a burly, rugged man whose build and manner contrast sharply with the scholarly disguises he sometimes adopts. After nearly a month waiting at Kaifeng's gates, he appeared severely haggard enough that Huang Shang initially failed to recognize him 16 42.

Personality

Xu Feng generally leaves long-term planning to his sister, Xu Yue, while he handles execution. He is initially reluctant to spend valuable reincarnation resources on Huang Shang, but his fear that competing reincarnators may seize the future grandmaster pushes him to support the investment 12 16.

He is impulsive, blunt, and less cultured than Xu Yue, but possesses sound combat instincts. In dangerous situations, he can react resourcefully, such as destroying part of the Worry-Free Cave to disrupt Nightingale's magic circle and reach Xu Yue 16 21. His concern for Xu Yue is genuine; when her communication link is cut off, he urgently seeks Huang Shang's help 19.

Pursuit of Huang Shang

Xu Feng and Xu Yue identify the young Huang Shang as a rare future grandmaster and decide to invest resources in him before other reincarnators can do so. Although Xu Feng objects to giving away the costly Divine Soul cultivation method, he follows Xu Yue's plan 12.

To establish a relationship, Xu Feng allows Xu Yue to injure him and stages a collapse in Huang Shang's backyard. He claims to possess intelligence on a conspiracy against the Great Song, then gives Huang Shang the Dao Scripture while pretending to faint 16 17. He later reports Huang Shang's development of Literary Qi to Xu Yue and gives Huang Shang a Vermilion Fruit 18.

Worry-Free Cave Conflict

When Xu Yue disappears near the Worry-Free Cave, Xu Feng reveals genuine distress and accepts Huang Shang's offer to help. He obtains the Zhuge Pen for Huang Shang, but insists that Huang Shang withdraw before the final reincarnator battle 19 20.

Xu Feng uses explosives to disrupt Nightingale's magic array, reunites with Xu Yue, and fights Wu Que while Xu Yue contends with Nightingale. He and Xu Yue eventually force their opponents to retreat, but Huang Shang is captured and taken away by another group 21 23.

Return to Kaifeng and Reincarnator Alliance

After Huang Shang's disappearance, Xu Feng spends nearly a month waiting at Kaifeng's gates with Wu Que. He renews his efforts to win Huang Shang's favor after their reunion, growing jealous when Huang Shang aids Hua Wuque's breakthrough instead 42 44.

Xu Feng investigates Chen Sheng's death and traces it to the circle around Han Zhongyan and Cai Jing. He and Xu Yue subsequently join Wu Que and Nightingale in a temporary alliance against reincarnators connected to Western Xia and the Liao Kingdom 45 46 47.

Battle Beneath the Imperial Academy

Xu Feng faces Butcher, a former three-star powerhouse whose strength appears to remain above the one-star level. Despite his martial arts and repeated counterattacks, he is driven back by Butcher's armor, greatsword, and overwhelming physical power 49.

Working with Xu Yue, Wu Que, and Nightingale, he strikes Butcher's mechanical heart. The damage instead awakens a dormant force within Butcher, leaving Xu Feng immobilized by blood energy as the enemy swings his blade at him 50.
