Background / History

The Uzumaki originated in the Land of Whirlpools, a small island nation east of the Land of Fire. They are distant relatives of the Forest Senju, and their alliance with Konoha is bound by both blood and marriage: Uzumaki Mito married First Hokage Senju Hashirama. Their relationship with Konoha remained close after Hashirama's death. 95

The clan's isolated position and unusual power left it vulnerable. Before formally relocating, it quietly dispersed some members throughout the shinobi world to preserve the clan in the event of disaster. 168 430

Uzumaki Mito supported a gradual migration to Konoha, including the integration of the Land of Whirlpools into the Land of Fire. The agreed plan spread the relocation over five years, beginning with twelve young shinobi assigned to Shadow Flow. 175 188

When Tanin Village was annihilated, Hanyu judged that the Uzumaki were in immediate danger and prioritized accelerating their evacuation.
