Background / History

The family had declined from its former position. Its strongest historical soul engineer was only a Level 6 Soul Master, while its strongest current member was a Level 4 Soul Master. During this decline, it accepted financial support from the Heavenly Soul Royal Family and became a channel for smuggling rare metals from the Sun Moon Empire into the Douluo Three Empires. 45

The arrangement was profitable to both sides: the Su Family could acquire materials far below the Heaven Dou Empire’s market price, while the royal family gained access to rare metals otherwise restricted by the Sun Moon Empire’s technological blockade. 45 57

The family’s most promising member was Su Yue, a theoretical soul engineer focused on Core Array construction. Her potential and education gave the family a route toward Mingde Hall, though Su Qian recognized that the family’s limited resources left her at a disadvantage against larger soul engineer factions. 45 58 59

Cooperation with Su Fan and the Body Sect

Du Busi brought the disguised Su Fan, using the name Su Yu, to the family as part of a plan to infiltrate Sun Moon Empire soul engineer circles and gather intelligence on the Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast Embryo. 45

Su Qian initially opposed allowing a person from the Douluo Three Empires to study within the family, fearing that any technology leak could bring annihilation upon the Su Family. Su Fan and Du Busi secured his cooperation by offering the Aperture condensation technique instead of handing over a trained aperture cultivator. 45 46

The final arrangement included:

• The Su Family would receive the aperture-condensation methods needed for at least three members to condense Apertures within one year. 46

Su Fan’s Infiltration

Su Fan received standard disciple treatment under the identity of Su Yu, including a private room with a soul tool crafting compartment and access to the schoolhouse. He attended only one lesson, finding its Core Array knowledge useful but unnecessary for his personal goals. 48

Su Qian grew suspicious when Su Fan showed little interest in actually crafting soul tools. He ordered the family to monitor Su Fan while strictly preventing him from approaching Mingde Hall or the Sun Moon Royal Soul Master Academy. 48

Su Fan eventually escaped surveillance through his altered appearance and Space Jump. His disappearance convinced Su Qian that the family had become entangled with someone it could neither control nor safely expose. 51 52

Su Fan later returned with the stolen blueprint for the Level 8 Sky Thunder Blade. Although Su Qian understood that accepting it would further implicate the family in Su Fan’s black-market robberies, its lightning-related Core Arrays were too valuable to refuse. 56

Aperture Soul Tool Research

Su Yue used the Su Family’s Aperture research results to advance within Mingde Hall. Her proposal—to use Core Arrays to condense and implant miniature soul tools into meridians—helped initiate large-scale research into Aperture Soul Tools. 59 61

While ostensibly conducting research, Su Yue spent three months studying Mingde Hall’s layout and identified the location of the Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast Embryo. She passed the coordinates to the Su Family, which relayed them to Su Fan and the Body Sect. 61

Jing Hongchen suspected that the Su Family had ties to the Douluo Three Empires, but chose not to immediately purge them. Instead, Mingde Hall intended to keep any technological leakage under its control by limiting the family’s future access to high-level soul tool knowledge. 61
