Background / History

Adnos was born into the Monar royal family. His mother was murdered by his father during an internal power struggle, an event Adnos remembered vividly into adulthood and which drove his pursuit of strength and revenge. He later killed his father and brothers in his struggle for power, but spared his full-blooded younger sister, Aisha. 159 376

He entered the Wizard Tower under Boer Kremo and showed exceptional talent in Bloodline Sorcery, body modification, and experimental exploration. Boer initially considered him a potential successor, but expelled Adnos after discovering that he had used living humans in his experiments. Before fleeing, Adnos used Boer's authority badge to steal part of the Tower's inheritance. 155

Seeking to establish his own necromantic system, Adnos led retainers into the Northern Wilderness to locate the remains of Lewis and the Wizard Alliance. There he recovered records on chimera cultivation, the Night Owl Knight Order, and the legendary Necro-Brain sorcery. 156 157

Appearance

Adnos's appearance changed drastically with each transformation, from a young noble wizard to a bloodline monster, skeleton, lich, and immense abyssal undead entity.

Personality

Adnos was brilliant, ruthless, and intensely ambitious. He viewed compassion, divine authority, and conventional morality as obstacles to be discarded in pursuit of power. His fascination with body modification, undead life, and death was apparent even before his fall into necromancy. 155 157

He believed death was the only true eternity and sought to make others part of his “kingdom” by converting them into undead under his power. He was also highly manipulative, exploiting grief and desperation to secure resources, followers, and sacrifices. 172 218 221

Consuming souls progressively destabilized him, as the personalities of his victims accumulated within his consciousness. After his time as the River Styx ferryman, he recovered his memories and became more restrained, showing unexpected kindness toward Alice because she resembled Aisha. 218 375 376

Adnos explored Lewis's former underground base in search of necromantic knowledge. He treated the remnants of human experimentation and chimera cultivation with excitement rather than horror, ultimately securing the records needed to build his own system of wizardry. 155 157

Coronation and the Babus City Massacre

After unexpectedly gaining the Mara throne, Adnos had the Royal Guard and a knight order converted into undead forces. At his coronation, he survived an assassination attempt, revealed his monstrous nature, killed Cardinal Peter, and unleashed Death Knights and ghouls upon Babus City. 166 169 170 171

Edward confronted him amid the ruined city and defeated him using the curse power born from the resentment of Babus City's dead. Adnos accepted the beauty of his own death as his Ghoul body dissolved. 172 173

Resurrection and the Corpse Dragon

Adnos later revived as an amnesiac skeleton in the Rotting Swamp. After initially suffering a crushing defeat against Giska, he returned with stronger necromancy, devoured the dragon's consciousness, and made it into a corpse dragon. 209 212 214

Dannello City's Fall

Operating from an underground labyrinth, Adnos consumed souls, made bargains with desperate nobles, and struggled to suppress the personalities he absorbed. He deceived Delmedi into financing a resurrection ritual, then used the completed Guidance Array to devour the consciousnesses of over one hundred thousand Dannello citizens and become the Death Lord. 218 221 222

Ferryman of the Underworld

Following judgment, Adnos was dragged into the Underworld, stripped of his memories, and condemned to ferry souls across the River Styx. He eventually recovered his identity and escaped the role by immolating himself in the river. 227 374 375

Godslayer Plot and Final Death

Adnos infiltrated the Church of Night, corrupted its Divine Clerics through the Night Candle, and opened the Gate of Talos to sacrifice the weakened Lord of Night to the Abyss. His attempt to escape Maria World ended when Lu Zhiyu appeared within the Abyss core. 376 378 379

Refusing to accept manipulation or predetermined fate, Adnos burned away his entire mythical existence. Before vanishing, he sent the Night Godhead to Alice. 380
