Background / History

Verdandi was raised by Lu Zhiyu as his adopted daughter in Aier City. At age three, he named her after Verdandi, one of the legendary Fates and the goddess governing the present; he hoped she would cherish the present and determine her own destiny. Because outsiders were investigating the region, Lu Zhiyu concealed her sex and publicly presented her as his son, Will. 115

Lu Zhiyu educated Verdandi through works such as the Dodd Epic, trained her personally in swordsmanship, and traveled with her across the continent. Though she regarded him as her father, Lu Zhiyu later acknowledged that he was not her biological parent; a later account describes Verdandi as the true child of God. 115 124 149 411

At sixteen, Verdandi awakened her bloodline and Golden Pupils. Her desire to become a knight persisted despite her small stature, and Lu Zhiyu’s training gave her a refined fighting style built around timing, speed, and exploiting stronger opponents’ weaknesses. 124 126

Verdandi is a petite lion-kin woman with golden hair, golden pupils, small fangs, and furry lion ears usually concealed in her hair. At sixteen, she stood only slightly above 1.6 meters and was notably sensitive about being teased for her height. 124
