Luo Xia had previously tried creating an artificial island in the Marvel Universe to seal a spatial rift, but that had been a purely ordinary island, nothing like this one.
He had put considerable thought into creating such a peculiar island, and naturally not just for fun. The various seemingly patternless pillars were not meant for electrical discharge experiments, either.
In fact, the moment Ares entered the island, the currents released by those pillars began capturing and recording the fluctuations in his body's energy. Luo Xia had deliberately provoked him into attacking just now to make those energy fluctuations more obvious.
Calculating, analyzing, simulating, and deciphering the divine power within Ares—that was Luo Xia's ultimate goal.
And now, there had been a small amount of progress.
Ares's body was utterly different from that of a human. It was practically an aggregate of energy. Such a form had few, if any, weak points, and possessed tremendous combat power. However, an energy body was naturally more susceptible to the influence of energy fields.
Just as magnetic fields had no effect on the human body, while high-intensity magnetic fields could restrain the high-temperature plasma flow produced by nuclear fusion—this was the interaction between energies.
The reason Ares felt his body slowing was that the surrounding pillars were emitting similar energy fields, disrupting the circulation of energy within his body.
The effect had not been obvious at first, but as Ares continued to struggle, the energy he used was analyzed more thoroughly. What followed were stronger, more efficient energy-field restraints, making it impossible for him to take even a step.
"What exactly did you do? What are these pillars?" Ares struggled madly, but like a butterfly caught in a web, he only sank deeper.
"With your intelligence, it'd be hard for me to explain."
