Background

Yu Shuangbai was born into the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. After his parents—third-generation disciples—died in a conflict, he became an unsupported branch-family orphan. Believed to possess only an Ice Lizard martial soul and innate rank-three soul power, he was denied assistance in obtaining his first spirit ring. At eight years old, he was forced to enter the Far North alone, where he collapsed from exhaustion and cold. 1 3 24 31

An anomaly on the ice plains encased him in an ice-and-snow cocoon. Snow Emperor found and brought him to her dwelling, where he awoke with an ice-blue spirit ring, level-eleven soul power, and the transformed Ice Dragon King martial soul. 1 2

Snow Emperor allowed him to remain in the Far North and cultivate under her guidance. Over five years, Snow Emperor and Ice Empress trained him in ice-element control and supplied him with rare Far North treasures. Their initially utilitarian arrangement developed into a familial bond. 3 4

He is pragmatic in negotiations and willing to use force when a peaceful exchange fails, but prefers to obtain what he needs through trade when possible. He treats the White Lurking Fish-Wolf transaction and his plan to acquire knowledge of immortal herbs as practical exchanges rather than sentimental matters. 6 25

Despite his usual detachment, Yu Shuangbai is notably gentle with Snow Emperor and Ice Empress. His goal of reaching godhood is motivated by his wish to remain with them and grant them eternal life. 4 18
