Background
Before the emergence of supernatural power, Sora and Yu had lost their parents and struggled financially. While Yu insisted that she attend an elite girls' school, Sora used her computer skills for online work, including light-novel illustration and short-story polishing, to help support their household. 484
Sora was originally a shut-in gamer with little interest in financial management or leaving home. Her early combat ability was limited: she lacked athletic talent and was repeatedly overwhelmed in Yu's Illusionary Cursed Space despite training against weakened Ohma clones. 96 123 189
Yu continued to train her through secret arts, simulated combat, and practical missions. Sora eventually began operating remotely through clay clones, allowing her to travel and fight outside Tokyo while her real body remained protected. 312 313
Personality
Sora is blunt, willful, and often prefers solving problems through overwhelming force rather than negotiation. While acting as Azure Dragon, she readily confronted Teach's much larger pirate force rather than retreating from her first outing. 316
Her attachment to Yu defines many of her decisions. She is fiercely protective of him, distrustful of potential romantic rivals, and openly states that the wider world's fate matters less to her than Yu's safety. 318 391 592
Despite this possessiveness, Sora genuinely cares for her friends. She brought Amame Ei on outings because Ei was one of her few friends, worried about Hongo Hina's safety, and later worked with Ei and Kuko Yoa to contain the risks posed by Yamata no Orochi Remains. 313 577 403
Abilities & Skills
Explosion Release
Sora's primary bloodline ability combines Earth and Lightning Release into destructive clay-based explosions. She creates living clay constructs and can vary their scale from swarming projectiles to battlefield-clearing detonations. 391 534
- C1: Spider — Launches fist-sized clay spiders at bullet-like speed. 316
- Explosive birds and doves — Uses fast Two-Winged Birds as aerial explosives; she can incorporate lightning into them to form conductive restraint nets. 391
- C2: Giant Dragon — Produces an enormous explosion that generates massive shockwaves, sea craters, whirlpools, and tsunamis. 391
- C3: Self-Destruction — A powerful self-destruction technique used through her clone to defeat Teach's pirate force. 316
- C4: Yu-Sora Rabbit — Compresses explosive power into a rabbit-shaped clay construct before releasing an exceptionally destructive blast. Its use can exhaust Sora's Spiritual Power completely. 391 392
- Limit — Simple explosions can be countered by Lightning Release, while flame monsters possessing a similar but more advanced power resist her attacks. 391 533
Clay Creation and Remote Clones
Sora can create white clay constructs, including humanoid clones, birds, spiders, and a white dragon used for aerial travel. 312 313
- Yu improved a Mind Transfer Puppet Talisman so Sora's soul can enter and directly control a clone. 312
- Her clone originally had a control-range limitation. 312
- Fighting through a clone allows Sora to take greater risks, though destruction of a remotely controlled clone can still harm the user's mind. 316 391
Radiance Release
Radiance Release is Sora's higher-tier power, created by binding and fusing Explosion Release through Magnet Release while incorporating Wind nature transformation. It elevated her to Dragon Rank. 534 600
- Uses magnetic force to bind, disperse, or redirect enemy attacks. 537
- Can distort charged-particle light attacks with a magnetic defense described as the Black Particle Barrier. 558
- Possesses superior combat potential against younger Flame Lords, aided by her greater experience. 559
- Initially lacked developed Radiance Release techniques despite reaching Dragon Rank. 600 629
- Received the Sun Golden Scripture as a guide to sunlight-based Radiance Release techniques. 629
Gravity Manipulation
Sora can apply invisible gravitational pressure to restrain opponents. She used it to pin down a Wolf Rank superhuman before releasing the pressure at Yu's direction. 407
Elemental Aptitude
Yu granted Sora the potential to master all seven chakra elements. Her actual proficiency still depends on her own cultivation and practice. 534 547
- Began practicing Wind nature transformation to support Radiance Release. 534
- Recognizes that relying on elemental counters or stronger allies during training would hinder her own growth. 533
Mind Transmission
Sora possesses a Yamanaka-style mind-transmission ability that can project consciousness outward, allowing communication without relying on conventional language. 558
Combat Experience
Although initially poor at direct martial combat, Sora developed extensive experience through repeated training in Yu's Mind Space and battlefield missions. Her large-area explosions are particularly effective against opponents who rely on evasion or predictive techniques. 96 559
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Azure Ring — An Akatsuki Organization ring bearing Sora's codename, created for her by Yu through Yin Release Creation. 384
- Sun Golden Scripture — A golden Egyptian-style tome containing sunlight and Radiance Release techniques for Sora to study. 629
- Mind Transfer Puppet Talisman — Allows her soul to attach to and control a clone. 312
- Xiao Zhi — A protective shikigami given to Sora by Yu; later described as her spider-like bodyguard. 94 113
- Explosive Paper Dolls — Training explosives that Sora uses in combat practice. 123
Relationships
- Akihi Yu — Her older brother, trainer, and the person she is most devoted to protecting. Yu supplies her with techniques, spiritual power, equipment, and combat opportunities. 94 316 592
- Amame Ei / Little Ei — Sora's close friend and frequent combat partner. The two travel through clones, operate as Azure Dragon and Black Tortoise, and support each other in battle. 313 316 364
- Nao — A childhood neighbor and ally whom Sora views as a romantic rival for Yu; Sora's jealousy drove her to attack a Nao-like clone without restraint. 391 592
- Hongo Hina — A friend from Sora's former school life and Cyber Club activities. Sora respects Hina's martial ability and considers her a possible teacher for Pre-Initiative. 484 559
- Kuko Yoa — Initially fought Sora over a Yamata no Orochi Remain, then later sought Sora and Ei's help against Orochi's influence. 315 403
- Marshall Teach — A pirate captain who copied Sora's clone and became a recurring opponent. Sora defeated him but spared him after his surrender. 315 318
Story Role / Major Arcs
Early Training
Sora trained alongside Nao in Yu's Illusionary Cursed Space, repeatedly losing to simulated fighters but gaining practical experience and a clearer understanding of the gap between raw power and combat skill. 96
Akatsuki Organization and the Philippine Conflict
Using a clay clone and the codename Azure Dragon, Sora traveled with Ei to the Philippines. She fought Kuko Yoa and the Teach Pirates over a Yamata no Orochi Remain, deploying C1 Spider and C3 Self-Destruction before ultimately sparing Teach. 315 316 318
Nine-Tails Faction Battle
During the conflict with the Nine-Tails Faction, Sora faced a clone modeled after Nao. Her rage led her to deploy C2: Giant Dragon and C4: Yu-Sora Rabbit, devastating a large section of the battlefield and advancing her strength. 391 392 394
Sun Island Cultivation
As a Ghost Rank, Sora entered the Blazing Flame Continent with Ei to study the power used by flame monsters and the Flame Lords. Rather than replace herself with an elemental counter, she chose to develop Wind transformation and pursue Radiance Release herself. 531 533 534
Burning Legion Conflict
Sora returned to battle Mannoroth and other Flame Lords alongside Takashi. Her Radiance Release and magnetic defenses allowed her to counter their attacks, while her combat experience gave her an advantage over less experienced opponents. 558 559
Dragon Rank and the Sun Golden Scripture
After reaching Dragon Rank, Sora received the Sun Golden Scripture from the Egyptian High Priestess through Yu. She began studying its sunlight techniques in preparation for an eventual conflict with Ra. 600 629
