Background

Kuko Yoa's parents died during the first Yomi Evil Spirit disaster. Until the night she began her transformation, she was still an ordinary mortal girl. 227 262

Abe no Seimei became her master and instructed her in Onmyodo, including Yin–Yang, the Five Elements, Shikigami command, purification, and incantations. After learning that the government was cooperating with Yamata no Orochi, Kuko sought techniques powerful enough to defeat the serpent, but Seimei refused to teach her. 224 671

Instead, she accepted Orochimaru's modified secret technique and consumed an Orochi Bone.
