The Dark Wizard and the Charlatan Professor
Although Kanna successfully conjured a button, the button still had beetle legs on it, making it look like an underdeveloped turtle from a distance.
"Puff..."
Kyle couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Kanna covered her half-transformed beetle, blushing and angry, and said, "What are you laughing at? You might not even be as good as me!"
Kyle didn't say anything, he just waved his wand gently.
The beetle on his desk instantly transformed into an exquisite button with a tortoise pattern.
The surrounding young wizards gasped in surprise; they hadn't expected anyone to complete the task so quickly.
Professor McGonagall seemed a little surprised, but she quickly nodded in satisfaction, picked up the button and showed it to the whole class, giving Kyle a rare smile.
"Hufflepuff plus 10 points!"
Kyle turned his head and shrugged at Kanna.
"..."
Kanna blushed with anger and turned her head away, refusing to look at him again.
By the time class ended, Kanna had finally succeeded in turning her beetle into a button.
As a reward, Professor McGonagall exempted them from their assignments, while the others had to submit a paper at least two feet long before the next class.
After leaving the classroom, Mikel was deathly pale, repeatedly muttering Professor McGonagall's words.
Normally, assignments of ten or twenty inches are already torturous enough, but two feet... that's practically killing him!
Mikel turned to Kyle, his eyes filled with hope. "Help me... You have to let me copy your homework this time..."
"Feel sorry."
Kyle felt a pang of guilt, but still reached out and patted him on the shoulder, saying, "Have you forgotten? I don't have to write."
The light in Mikel's eyes vanished instantly.
After the Transfiguration Class, it was time for the Defense Against the Dark Arts that everyone was looking forward to.
Although Oren was a dark wizard, it must be said that his practical lessons were indeed very engaging. In just one school year, he successfully sparked a strong interest in Defense Against the Dark Arts among the young wizards.
Professor Quirrell chose a classroom on the third floor; it was a narrow room, far less spacious than last year's.
Moreover, the entire room only had one window, making it very dark even in broad daylight.
Upon arriving at the classroom, everyone felt a jolt of unease and a sense of foreboding.
This premonition only intensified after Professor Quirrell walked in.
What kind of respectable professor reeks of garlic?!
Moreover, the smell was extremely strong, as if the garlic had come to life.
Several students immediately covered their noses and tried to open the window, but Professor Quirrell stopped them.
"No... we can't open the window."
Professor Quirrell stammered, "I... I was dealing with... a Revenant Zombie during the summer vacation, and I was cursed by him... that I can't be exposed to the wind."
As he spoke, he pointed to his large scarf.
"This is... a gift from the Africa prince I rescued... It can protect me very well."
Revenant Zombie?
The young wizards immediately became interested.
"Professor Quirrell," Kitty Katie Bell of Gryffindor asked curiously. "What do Revenant Zombie look like?"
"It has... fangs several inches long... its body is like... steel, and it's... immune to spells... It's terrifying!"
Wow~~
A collective gasp rippled through the crowd, and their gazes toward Professor Quirrell changed.
A body like steel, immune to spells... even Auror would have a hard time dealing with such a creature.
I never expected that this professor, who looks like a clown, would actually be such a formidable expert.
The young wizards looked at Professor Quirrell with admiration, and even his strong garlic smell seemed less unpleasant.
"He must have been trying to ward off the vampire he encountered on his journey, afraid that the vampire might come back to haunt him."
Someone confidently asserted, "This creature is most afraid of garlic; that must be true."
Professor Quirrell glanced at him with some surprise, then nodded silently.
That's a good reason, much better than he thought.
"Professor Quirrell."
At this point, Katie Bell asked again, "The Revenant Zombie was so powerful, how did you defeat it? Can you tell us?"
"This... I, I..."
Professor Quirrell's face flushed red, and he mumbled, "It was... like that, and then like this... It involves very profound... magic, and even if I explained... you wouldn't understand."
Seeing Professor Quirrell's incoherent speech, unable to utter a single word for a long time, everyone's gaze changed again.
That expression practically screamed to everyone that he was lying.
Katie Bell, undeterred, asked again, "It's alright, Professor, just tell me. We can look up any unfamiliar spells in the library."
Others echoed this sentiment:
"Yes, Professor."
"Professor, please tell us."
Even just a few simple words would be fine.
Professor Quirrell's face turned even redder. After holding it in for a long time, he ignored everyone's words and turned to look out the window.
"I don't like... the weather in England, there's too much rain... Romania is much better."
This confirmed the guess.
Without a doubt, Professor Quirrell lied just now; he definitely didn't encounter any Revenant Zombie.
Everyone was extremely disappointed. Although they had considered that this year's Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts might not be very reliable, they never expected that a fraudster would come along.
And he's a conman who likes garlic.
This is even worse than Oren.
Everyone immediately lost interest in listening to the lecture and started fidgeting.
Some were writing letters, some were catching up on homework, and some were playing with frogs...
Professor Quirrell saw all of this, but he said nothing. He simply picked up the book, "Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Defense," and read its contents aloud.
Anyone who didn't know better would think Professor Binns had possessed him.
As Kyle listened, he started to feel sleepy, and for a moment, he even began to miss Oren.
They're both dark wizards, so why is there such a huge difference?
Kyle forced himself to stay awake and barely made it to the end of class.
"This is terrible." During lunch, Kanna couldn't help but complain, "I don't understand why the headmaster would appoint him as our Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts."
"They probably just can't find anyone," Cedric thought for a moment and said, "As you know, there's always been a shortage of professors for this course."
"But you can't just read textbooks all the time."
Kanna still didn't quite understand. "If that's the case, wouldn't it be better to just find a ghost like Professor Binns and not have to worry about the curse?"
"This..." Cedric opened his mouth, but for a moment he didn't know what to say.
He suddenly realized that this statement made a lot of sense.
