The Unicorn's Special Skill
"Philosopher's Stone?"
Kyle raised an eyebrow, looking quite interested.
"Is it one of those made by Mr. Nicolas Flamel...? Hogwarts still has such a treasure hidden away?"
"Don't ask, Kyle, I won't tell you." Hagrid said sternly, his face hardening. "This is top secret, not something little wizards like you should know."
"It's classified..."
Kyle shrugged, nonchalantly saying, "In that case, I won't ask."
Hagrid was suddenly taken aback. He hadn't expected Kyle to give up so easily, especially since Harry had been pestering him for so long.
The two chatted for a while longer, but Kyle seemed to have absolutely no interest in the Philosopher's Stone and didn't mention it again.
Hagrid suddenly sighed and said instinctively, "Seriously, I wish Harry could be like you."
"Harry Potter? What happened to him?"
"It's nothing, it's nothing..." Hagrid quickly shook his head and said, "I meant he was here just now too."
"That's a good thing, Hagrid," Kyle said with a smile. "It proves he cares about you too."
"Yes..." Hagrid nodded.
It's nice to feel cared for, but it would be even better if Harry were less curious and didn't ask about Fluffy and the Philosopher's Stone every time he saw him.
"By the way, when did Harry Potter arrive?" Kyle asked.
"About an hour ago," Hagrid said after thinking for a moment. "They only had one class this morning, so they arrived a little early."
"Them?"
"And Hermione and Ron," Hagrid said. "The three of them have been spending a lot of time together lately."
As he spoke, Hagrid stood up, stirred the pot a few more times with his spoon, and this time scooped up a little and tasted it.
This made Kyle's stomach churn, but he forced himself to endure the discomfort and said, "By the way, Hagrid, has anything strange happened in the Forbidden Forest lately?"
"Forbidden Forest?"
Hagrid picked up the spoon, pondered for a moment, and then shook his head.
"I don't know. I haven't been inside these past few days because of what happened with Fluffy."
Why would you ask that?
"It's nothing, I just suddenly thought of it."
Kyle said, "The person who used Dark Magic on Fluffy clearly had some intention, but after alerting Professor Dumbledore, he certainly can't do anything to Fluffy anymore, so I'm a little worried that he'll set his sights on the Forbidden Forest."
"You mean he'll also target the Fantastic Beasts in the Forbidden Forest?" Hagrid was startled, and the spoon in his hand clattered to the ground.
"This is just my guess."
Kyle, his expression unchanged, said, "After all, there are quite a few dangerous Fantastic Beasts in the Forbidden Forest, such as Werewolf, Acromantula, or Unicorn..."
"If they suddenly went berserk and ran out of the Forbidden Forest, it would also have a significant impact on Hogwarts."
Hagrid picked up the spoon from the ground and paced back and forth for a long time before saying solemnly, "You're right, I'll go check out the Forbidden Forest in a bit."
"Be careful," Kyle warned. "A wizard who can use Dark Magic on Fluffy is probably as powerful as the professor. Be extra careful when you go to the Forbidden Forest."
"Don't worry, I'll be careful."
Hagrid subconsciously touched his little pink umbrella, walked to the shelf in front of the house, picked up a stone bow hanging on it, and gestured with it a couple of times.
In the Forbidden Forest, this stuff is far more useful than magic.
"However, you're wrong about one thing, Kyle."
Hagrid put the stone bow back on the shelf and said with a smile, "Unicorn aren't dangerous. They are pure and gentle Fantastic Beasts with a very simple attack method. Even if they suddenly go berserk, they are unlikely to harm people."
Just be careful not to get poked by its single horn on its head.
"That's hard to say," Kyle retorted. "Don't forget Professor Kettleburn; he only went to St Mungo's's last summer after being gored in the stomach by Unicorn ..."
"Ah..." Hagrid was momentarily speechless.
He wanted to say that Professor Kettleburn was an exception, because no normal person would try to hug Unicorn's head when it's angry.
According to Professor Kettleburn at the time, he was trying to comfort the Unicorn and calm it down.
Hagrid still doesn't quite understand this argument.
He didn't know if the Unicorn had calmed down, but Professor Kettleburn was quite calm during the treatment... even though he had fainted.
"And... the Unicorn's attack methods aren't limited to just its horn," Kyle continued. "Don't forget that its blood is also deadly. What if it runs into a crowded place and explodes on the spot, splattering blood all over people's faces?"
You don't even need to drink it; just touching your lips is enough... That kind of curse is very difficult to remove."
"Huh?" Hagrid choked again.
This claim is even more outrageous than the one about Professor Kettleburn was famously refuted.
The Unicorn exploded on the spot... How is that possible?
"Don't forget Fluffy, Hagrid."
Kyle said with a serious expression, "He could even bring himself to harm such an adorable Three-headed Dog, let alone Unicorn."
"Ah... yes, you're right."
Hagrid's expression gradually turned serious, and he nodded solemnly, saying, "I'll keep an eye on those Unicorn; I happen to know where they often roam."
Kyle stayed there for a little while longer before hurriedly bidding farewell to Hagrid and returning to the castle.
The main problem was that the smell coming from that pot was getting stronger and stronger, and Kyle was afraid that if he stayed any longer, he would throw up the lunch he had just eaten.
The afternoon class was Defense Against the Dark Arts.
When Professor Quirrell walked into the classroom, everyone noticed that he had a bandage wrapped around his arm.
"Professor, are you injured?" someone asked.
"A... minor injury," Professor Quirrell stammered. "While watching Quidditch Match... I don't know who kicked me off the stands, and I broke my arm..."
"But Professor, that was a few days ago," someone else said. "I broke my arm in Flying Class last year and went to the Hospital Wing, Madam Pomfrey set it in a second."
"That's different..." Professor Quirrell said, his face flushed. "It's because... I'm cursed by a vampire... and it's very difficult to recover..."
"But Professor, didn't you say last time that the vampire's curse only makes you afraid of the wind?"
"Perhaps... I forgot to mention it..."
Quirrell seemed unwilling to discuss the matter further, completely ignoring the other young wizards' questions and forcefully shifting the topic to the classroom.
Today we'll learn how to identify and deal with Red Cap.
It was a troublesome creature that looked like Goblin. Its tracks could be found wherever there was bloodshed. It usually lurked in the dungeons of castles and the trenches of battlefield ruins, waiting to ambush those who got lost.
Professor Quirrell apparently couldn't find the Red Cap, so he used a large lizard instead.
That lizard is a veteran in Defence Against the Dark Arts; it even played Hinkypunk last time, so it could easily be called a teaching assistant.
"Let's assume... this is a Red Cap..."
Professor Quirrell, supporting the lizard on his shoulder, began to read the contents of the book, albeit haltingly.
