Lupin's Year-Long Shock
About ten minutes later, the two Dementor left after inspecting all the carriages, and the lights in the aisles and on the shelves came back on.
The dim yellow light seemed to dispel the cold; at least when the surroundings lit up, there were sounds of conversation on the train.
"What was that just now...?" Kanna asked.
"Dementor," Kyle said, putting the luggage back on the shelf. "Guards of Azkaban."
"I know that's Dementor." Kanna shook her head. "I'm asking about the spell you used just now, the one that dispelled the cold."
"Oh, you mean that..." Kyle handed out some more chocolates to everyone. "The Patronus Charm is also the simplest and most effective way to defend against Dementor."
If a perfect Patronus can be summoned, it can even damage Dementor.
"Huh? Didn't you just use Wand-Lighting Charm?" Fred asked instinctively after hearing her words.
All he remembered was that the box lit up after Kyle took out his wand—wasn't that Wand-Lighting Charm?
Kyle ignored him.
While both the Wand-Lighting Charm and the Patronus Charm emit light, they are quite different... well, if you don't look closely, they really are almost identical.
"A perfect Patronus?" Kanna asked curiously. "What would it be like?"
"Those lights will coalesce into a silvery-white animal," Kyle said, "That can run and jump freely in mid-air, just like a living creature."
"Is it difficult?" Kanna asked.
She remembered not seeing any animals in the carriage.
Although she really wanted to learn the spell, if even Kyle couldn't do it, then there was no point in wasting her time.
"It's hard to say, it's difficult, but not difficult either," Kyle explained. "If you have a sufficiently vivid and happy memory, learning this spell will be very easy."
He learned his Patronus Charm from Newt in Romania, and the memory he chose was mainly the excitement of receiving his Hogwarts acceptance letter.
And then there's Snape's reaction upon hearing the words "Half-Blood Prince," as if he wanted to dig his toes through the castle floor.
The results were remarkable.
He completed learning the Patronus Charm in just two days.
But there was no need to use the full Patronus Charm just now. The Dementor were ordered by the Ministry of Magic to inspect the train. The focus is on the Ministry of Magic, not the Dementor.
Therefore, they cannot leave before completing this command, as evidenced by the Dementor we just saw.
Forcibly driving them away is likely to backfire and may even anger them.
There are hundreds of students here, Kyle can't guarantee that he can protect everyone, even with Professor Lupin included.
In a state of extreme fear, not everyone will obediently comply.
After the Dementor left, the train started moving again.
The group sat down and discussed what had just happened.
George was in trouble; his teeth had been chattering, making a series of clicking sounds, and naturally, everyone was making fun of him.
He tried his best to explain that it was frozen, but no one believed him.
Whether they were scared or frozen, it didn't matter. What everyone needed now was a new source of amusement to dispel the negative effects of the Dementor, and George was the perfect candidate. What could he do? He just happened to be there.
Of all of them, Fred's laughter was the loudest.
As for George himself... anger and shame are sometimes more effective than happiness, and while he was trying his best to defend himself, he had long forgotten about the Dementor.
The train continued northward, with a continuous curtain of rain outside the window.
"Should we go check on Harry?" Fred, who had just finished teasing George and was now refreshed, suddenly said, "I think I just heard Ron shouting that he fainted."
"Okay, let's go take a look." Kyle nodded.
He casually grabbed two boxes of chocolates from the table and left the private room.
Harry's box was easy to find; it was at the very back, surrounded by a bunch of people.
Clearly, they weren't the only ones who heard screams.
However, because there was a professor in the private room, these people did not go in; they just stood around curiously, craning their necks to look inside.
Kyle and his friends had no qualms about being professors or not. Fred and George, under the pretext of visiting their brother Ron, squeezed through the crowd and went inside.
Harry collapsed on the floor, groaning incessantly, as if he were having a terrible dream.
Hermione and Ron kept calling to him from the side.
The professor is writing a letter.
When Kyle and his group entered the private room, he looked up for a moment, his gaze lingering on Fred and George's red hair before he lowered his head again, without trying to shoo them away.
"Kyle ..." Hermione asked anxiously, "Do you have any way to wake Harry up quickly?"
"That's not difficult."
Kyle thought for a moment and said, "If you're going to be gentle, just wait for him to wake up on his own. If you're going to be rough, just splash cold water on his face, preferably the kind with ice shards. You don't need much, a whole basin will be enough."
"But where are we going to find ice water...?"
"You're a wizard, Ron," Hermione said, displeased, and then took out her wand.
"No need," Kyle waved his hand. "I have a better way."
By this time Professor Lupin had finished writing his letter, Kyle went over and opened the window.
A gust of cold wind, mixed with rain, blew in and hit Harry's face.
Harry, lying on the ground, suddenly shuddered and groggily opened his eyes.
"See?" Kyle closed the window again.
Ron and Hermione quickly helped Harry back to his seat.
"Are you alright?" Ron asked anxiously.
"It's nothing," Harry said, quickly glancing towards the door. The cloaked figure was gone; only a row of heads stood outside, quickly retreating when they met his gaze.
"Where... where did that thing go? Who was screaming just now?"
"Nobody screamed," Ron said.
"But I heard... a woman scream."
"The Dementor must have triggered some unpleasant memories for you."
Kyle took out some chocolate and handed it to him. "Have some, it'll do you good."
Behind them, Professor Lupin was also holding a large piece of chocolate.
However, looking at the exquisitely packaged high-end chocolate in Kyle's hand, with a string of French words written on it, and then at the simple-packaged, three -Sickle piece chocolate in his own hand, he silently stuffed it back into his pocket.
"That chocolate must cost five Sickle each," Lupin muttered to himself. "How come all the young wizards these days are so rich?"
On the other side, Harry took the chocolate, took a small bite, and was surprised to find a warm current suddenly flowing through his body, making him feel much more comfortable.
"Thank you!" he said, looking at Kyle. "This chocolate is really good. Where did you buy it?"
"I don't know either." Kyle shrugged. "It was a birthday present from a France friend, a big bag of candy, and this was one of them."
"France goods... must be very expensive." Ron swallowed hard.
"Ten Galleon a piece." At this moment, Cedric suddenly said, "I saw this brand of chocolate in a magic shop when I was traveling in France. It is said to contain fifty-year-old Golden Bee honey and Re'em milk. It's ridiculously expensive."
Clang...
Behind him, Lupin's wand fell to the ground, and he stared at Kyle in shock.
"Ten Galleon... and a piece of chocolate?"
"Kids these days are fucking rich!"
