A Potion Worth Three Hundred Galleons
For the next two hours, Kyle recounted in detail what had happened in the Chamber of Secrets the previous year.
Nicolas didn't care about the process, but when it came to the beginning and the end, he asked a lot of questions, including Kyle's feelings when time went backward, whether there were any special phenomena around him, and even the changes in the environment.
Some of these issues were so subtle that even Kyle himself hadn't noticed them. He was busy exchanging ideas and learning with Riddle at the time, and had no time to pay attention to whether the Chamber of Secrets was cold or hot.
Two hours later, Kyle, parched, picked up the cup on the table and drank the now-cold black tea in one gulp.
He also suggested using the Pensieve for Nicolas Flamel to observe.
As the home of a famous alchemist, he certainly wouldn't lack things like the Pensieve, and even if he didn't have one, he could probably make one on the spot.
But Nicolas Flamel shook his head.
"I must tell you, my child, that extracting memories is not a simple matter; only wizards skilled in Memory Charm can do it."
"And there's another point..." he continued, "If I'm not mistaken, you must have learned Occlumency a long time ago."
Kyle nodded.
Occlumency was the spell he studied the longest, and he had never stopped practicing it over the years, especially after Rowena Ravenclaw reminded him of it.
There's nothing we can do about it.
Nicolas said, "For wizards who have mastered Occlumency, no one but themselves can extract their memories, not even me or Albus."
"Actually, I can give it a try..." Kyle said, "There was a professor at Hogwarts who was a master of memory spells. He gave me a notebook with all his insights on Memory Charm, and I learned a lot from it."
"Oh, does Hogwarts have a master of Memory Charm?"
Nicolas Flamel looked somewhat surprised. "Albus a really good eye. I have to admit, in terms of professor selection, Beauxbatons is indeed not as good as Hogwarts."
"Perhaps... that's how it is..." Kyle chuckled dryly, too embarrassed to reveal the specifics of the Memory Charm master's current situation.
A professor whose real identity is a con artist not only lost his memory but was also sent to St Mungo's's... It's quite embarrassing to talk about.
Let it be a misunderstanding; your reaction isn't important.
Kyle quickly changed the subject, saying, "I can try..."
"No, it still won't work!"
He was interrupted before he could finish speaking.
"Perhaps you're thinking of saying that you've made great progress in Memory Charm after reviewing the notes, but I can't take that risk..."
Nicolas Flamel pointed to his forehead and said seriously, "Your brain is more valuable than anything I want to know, so... no way!"
"And it's not necessary. Based on your description, I basically understand the situation."
Nicolas Flamel waved his hand, and the surrounding blue-green reliefs and shelves vanished instantly, replaced by a wall covered with various Ancient Runes symbols.
Under his command, Ancient Runes runes lit up one after another, twinkling like stars.
Nicolas muttered to himself, "Unlike existing Time-Turner, its ending doesn't seem to align with the original timeline. Instead, it seems to be fulfilling some necessary condition, which means these things are no longer needed..."
He waved his hand again, and some of the Ancient Runes on the wall went dark, but many more lit up, bringing the Ancient Runes number, including the original ones, to several hundred.
Nicolas Flamel kept changing the positions of the Ancient Runes, arranging them into different symbols, and then these symbols were superimposed to form new shapes.
Kyle didn't disturb him, but just watched quietly from the side.
To be honest, Nicolas's actions were completely incomprehensible to him; he could only try to memorize them.
But Kyle gave up after ten minutes.
It's pointless; there are hundreds of different combinations of Ancient Runes runes, and it's practically impossible to memorize them all.
Furthermore, Kyle discovered that Nicolas seemed to be merely experimenting, in other words, drafting a plan rather than providing the final answer.
However, Kyle didn't expect that Nicolas would spend the entire night writing this draft.
By the time he stopped what he was doing and all the Ancient Runes had gone dark, it was already the morning of the next day.
After reading advanced Ancient Runes all night, Kyle felt dizzy and his mind was in a daze.
Nicolas, on the other hand, actually looked more energetic than yesterday.
"Incredible..."
"Sorry, Kyle, I forgot you were still here..."
Noticing Kyle's unusual behavior, he clapped his hands and had the House-elf Tata bring him a bottle of light red potion.
"Drink it, it'll do you good."
Kyle took the potion and drank a large gulp.
The dizziness disappeared the next second.
"What's this?"
"A mind-clearing potion I concoct myself," Nicolas said. "I drink some whenever I need those memories from hundreds of years ago, and it works very well."
Kyle nodded, then couldn't help asking, "Is it troublesome to brew this potion?"
"It's not troublesome at all, it's very simple."
"If you like..."
Nicolas smiled and tapped the table with her finger, and a parchment suddenly appeared in front of Kyle.
"Consider this my Christmas present to you."
"Thank you, Nicolas." Kyle quickly picked up the parchment.
This mind-clearing potion is indeed very useful. Although he didn't really need it at Hogwarts, he could give it to others.
It just so happens that Kanna has recently started to study Ancient Runes in depth, which is exactly what she needs.
Cedric, Cho, and the Weasley brothers can also use them...
Kyle glanced at the parchment, then his lips twitched involuntarily.
Just like Nicolas said, the method of making it is really simple, and only six ingredients are needed.
But how should I put it... the cheapest material is Unicorn Horn, which costs about fifty Galleon per ounce.
In other words, the cost of brewing this medicine is at least three hundred Galleon.
Kyle took a deep breath, expressionlessly folded the parchment a few times, and stuffed it into his pocket.
When the two left the room, Nicolas was still excited about their discovery.
"I feel like I've found the direction," he said, "But it will require many attempts and verifications, and situations like the one just now may continue for a long time."
This is not very friendly to a 600-year-old man.
They sat down at the table, and Tata immediately brought out a sumptuous meal.
