My Student
Meanwhile, Kyle, still inside the maze, had no idea what the audience outside was thinking.
After the hedges that had been obstructing his view disappeared, he also saw the trophy at the end of the flames.
The next second, Kyle immediately ran over.
A sphinx was huddled at the edge of the flames; its original task was to stop the Champion from asking questions. But as Kyle passed by, it suddenly became very interested in a stone on the ground, lowering its head and pretending not to see anything.
Kyle reached the trophy without hesitation and immediately grabbed its Winky handle.
But Kyle did not pick up the trophy.
He felt as if his entire body had been tugged, and with a tremendous force, his feet left the ground.
It was indeed the Portkey. Kyle was overjoyed and didn't struggle, letting the trophy carry him forward amidst the whistling wind and swirling colors.
He didn't know how much time had passed—maybe a minute, maybe just a moment—but Kyle felt himself standing on the ground again.
This was no longer Hogwarts grounds; it was pitch black all around, and a cluster of pointed rooftops could be seen in the distance, seemingly on a hill.
"Run! Run! Run!"
Before Kyle could get a good look, he heard a panting scream... the voice sounded somewhat familiar.
Kyle looked up and saw Harry lying on the ground, his leg seemingly injured, struggling to crawl towards him using his arms for support.
"It's Voldemort..." Harry cried out in anguish, "He's back to life, and the Death Eaters too, they..."
Well, actually, Harry didn't need to remind him, because the moment Kyle appeared, he was already surrounded by several people wearing black hoods and masks.
"Oh, look who's here..." a hoarse voice came from behind.
The hooded man immediately made way for him, behaving as respectfully as a servant.
From behind the crowd, a person wearing the same black cloak but without a mask stepped out.
Tall and thin, paler than a skeleton, with bloodshot eyes.
Moreover, he didn't have a nose... only two thin slits like snakes... this feature was too obvious.
Voldemort.
"My student, is this how you treat the professor?" Voldemort said lazily, in a good mood. "I thought you'd be screaming with joy."
"Don't talk nonsense, you're not my professor," Kyle retorted immediately.
Harry was right there; he didn't want to take the blame.
"How heartless," Voldemort said, looking at him. "When you asked me about immortality, you didn't have this attitude."
"What immortality? I don't understand what you're talking about."
"You won't admit it? That's fine." Voldemort toyed with a wand between his fingers.
"You must all be very curious..." he said to the Death Eaters around him.
"A few years ago, I returned to Hogwarts with Quirrell's help. It was a truly humiliating time. I could only cling to that idiot's head like a parasite because none of the people I trusted most... tried to find me."
Although he appeared to be smiling, his tone was as cold as a block of ice.
The Death Eaters around him immediately lowered their heads, prostrated themselves on the ground, and explained while begging Voldemort for forgiveness.
There was only one person, a person with a missing arm, pale skin, and a few freckles on his face, holding his head high.
"A boy was the first to notice my existence."
Voldemort didn't even glance at the kneeling people, and continued, "That clever boy has caused me quite a bit of trouble. He seems to know a lot, and he's very courageous, even daring to threaten the Dark Lord..."
Voldemort's eyes were fixed on Kyle.
"I always thought it would be a while before I saw you again, my student... I never expected you to appear so soon. Are you here to celebrate my rebirth?"
"If so, then I really like this gift!"
"It's me, Master, it's me..."
A Death Eaters crawled over on his knees. "I turned the Triwizard Cup into Portkey... that's how I brought him here. He's one of the Champion."
"Oh, Karkaroff." Voldemort glanced at him. "I always thought you, this cowardly, weak traitor, would run away the moment you learned of my resurrection."
"Master, I will never betray you." Karkaroff lowered his head even further, his whole body pressed against the ground.
"I was just lying in wait, ready to welcome you at any time... Oh, by the way, that Harry Potter, I'm the one who captured him."
"Oh?" Voldemort looked at the only person not kneeling on the ground. "Barty, is that so?"
"He was just too scared to agree to help," Barty Crouch Jr.. scoffed.
Although he said that, it was a tacit admission of Karkaroff's contribution.
It's strange...
Kyle frowned. Barty Crouch Jr..'s identity Death Eaters was revealed by Karkaroff, yet here he was, instead of kicking him while he was down, speaking up for him...
Death Eaters really that magnanimous?
But Kyle doesn't have time to think about that now.
"Grab him..." Voldemort suddenly shouted, "I want him alive!"
The Death Eaters around him immediately moved, but Kyle was faster than them.
A roaring Dragon emerged from the wand and swallowed the fastest Death Eaters in the blink of an eye.
The man's scream lasted for less than a second before all was silent.
"This is Fiendfyre!" someone screamed.
The other Death Eaters also instinctively backed away; even though they were wearing masks, their bewilderment was palpable.
Isn't this a student?
Shouldn't he have used Reductor Curse or Disarming Charm?
Whose student can unleash such a Fiendfyre and skillful Fiendfyre?
As everyone gazed at the lifelike Dragon raging across the sky, they all simultaneously recalled Voldemort's first words upon seeing this person.
"... my student."
Okay, that makes sense now.
"A bunch of idiots!" Voldemort shrieked.
He simply raised his wand, and instantly extinguished the Dragon composed of Fiendfyre.
But that's enough time.
When the Death Eaters looked at Kyle again, they noticed that he had somehow acquired a golden feather and an inconspicuous bead in his hand.
Almost instinctively, Voldemort felt a surge of panic.
"Quickly, stop him..."
"Snap!"
Before he could finish speaking, Kyle crushed both objects in his hands at the same time.
The next second, the small hilltop was shrouded in a thick fog.
The fog obscured everyone's vision, and the Death Eaters who had rushed towards Kyle, having lost their target, collided with each other.
"Bang..."
"What's going on...?"
"I've caught him, Master... I've caught him!"
The Death Eaters were in complete chaos; one even grabbed Voldemort as he ran towards them and poked his nose with his finger...
"Avada..."
The next second, a green light flashed and disappeared into the mist.
"Useless idiots!" Voldemort was furious.
But the fog appeared so suddenly that even he didn't react in time.
