Because they had lost some time talking, Kyle and Kanna hurried along and just managed to reach the classroom before the lesson began.

Snape had already arrived. He stood at the front of the classroom, studying the two of them as they entered with a scrutinizing gaze.

Honestly, Snape had not been in a good mood since learning a few days ago that Kanna had run away from France and come back.

But what could he do? When he first learned that someone had sent Kanna back, he had stormed off to the Headmaster's Office, intending to see who had been meddling in his affairs.

But when he saw Nicolas Flamel, his head full of white hair and his whole body trembling as he walked, all his anger vanished. Not only did he not say a single harsh word, he repeatedly thanked the man and personally escorted him out of the school.

There was no helping it. Even setting aside his reputation, the man's age alone was not something Snape could afford to provoke. More than six hundred years old—he looked as though a gust of wind might knock him over.

What if Snape spoke too loudly and frightened him into having some kind of problem?

So Snape endured it and courteously saw Nicolas Flamel out of the school.

But that did not mean the matter was over.

Snape knew perfectly well that Kyle was a major reason Kanna had returned from France. Now that the two had met again, he naturally had no pleasant expression to spare for him.

"What are you standing around for?" Snape said coldly, as though looking at some potion ingredient that had jumped out of its jar. "If you're late, find a seat and sit down. Do I have to invite you?"

"Understood, Professor."
