By the time Kyle and Kanna emerged from the Room of Requirement, it was almost time for afternoon classes. Rather than returning to the common room, they headed straight for the dungeon classroom.
They had two Potions Classes in a row that afternoon, and it was also their first lesson with Horace Slughorn.
By the time they reached the corridor outside the dungeon classroom, quite a few students were already inside. Qiu was there as well, sitting with several Ravenclaw students at the table closest to the podium.
Kyle and Kanna entered the classroom.
Slughorn's style was completely different from Snape's. Before this year, there had never been a trace of sunlight here; the room had relied entirely on the few torches that burned all year round.
The surrounding decor had also been filled with an eerie atmosphere. Frog and rat entrails, leech mucus, and similar things could be seen everywhere. It hardly looked like a classroom at all. It was more like one of those shops in Knockturn Alley that sold Dark magic items and illegal potions.
But Slughorn was different. He did not like those gloomy decorations.
The wall torches had all been removed, and the various bottles and jars had been put away—possibly taken by Snape. In their place were cauldrons billowing white smoke and steam.
For the first time, the curtains had been drawn open. Slughorn seemed to have enchanted the windows as well, making them resemble the ceiling of the Great Hall. It was the first time Kyle had seen bright sunlight outside from within the dungeon classroom.
It felt rather novel.
"Look, that's a Revival Potion," Kanna whispered beside him.
The Revival Potion was the potion she had invented for the Extraordinary Potioneers Association assessment. Its effects were similar to those of a Wakefulness
