Background / History
Bibi Dong was once Spirit Hall’s exceptionally gifted Holy Maiden, possessing rare twin martial souls. The Golden List depicts her younger self as innocent and hopeful, sharply contrasting with her later severity 98.
She fell in love with Yu Xiaogang and used her authority to give him access to confidential martial-soul records accumulated by Spirit Hall over thousands of years. Those records became the foundation of his “Ten Core Competencies of Martial Soul,” but he credited neither Spirit Hall nor Bibi Dong’s assistance 98.
When Qian Xunji discovered their relationship, Yu Xiaogang left without resisting or attempting to take her with him. A traumatic ordeal followed in a secret chamber; the Golden List conceals its most degrading scenes but shows her despair afterward. Yu Xiaogang subsequently pursued Liu Erlong 98.
Bibi Dong later became Spirit Hall’s Supreme Pontiff and the founding Empress of its empire. She is Qian Renxue’s mother, although their shared faction does not erase her hostility toward the Qian family or her determination to monopolize Spirit Hall’s authority 24 98.
Appearance
Bibi Dong has a mature, curvaceous figure and a regal bearing, with her attire changing from papal robes to dark-purple divine armor after her ascension 7 24.
- Eyes: Phoenix-shaped eyes with deep-purple pupils; after attaining godhood, their appearance evokes wailing vengeful spirits 14 24.
- Hair: Purple, shown flowing around her in the Golden List’s depiction of the Rakshasa God 25.
- Papal attire: Luxurious purple-black gowns and robes; one scene depicts purple silk stockings beneath her skirt 7 14.
- Divine armor: Form-fitting dark-purple armor with fierce contours and flickering evil runes that correspond to demonic markings on her skin 24.
Personality
Bibi Dong is proud, controlling, and intensely ambitious. Godhood strengthens her desire to unify the continent, punish those who harmed or belittled her, and make her own voice the only authority within Spirit Hall. She initially considers Qian Ye a charlatan and reacts violently to his contempt 24 25 26.
Her confidence is closely tied to power. Qian Ye’s effortless suppression frightens and humiliates her, but the Golden List’s reward immediately restores her belief that she is invincible. Even after submitting, she considers defeating Tang San a way to rebuild her prestige and make Qian Renxue and Qian Ye lower their guard 27 28 31.
She is nevertheless capable of caution and concern for her daughter. She prepares to intervene if Qian Renxue falls into danger and restrains her objection to the broken sword after observing Qian Ye’s composure. Later, the expanding conflict leaves her anxious as events move beyond her control 31 32 96.
