Power Progression

Background / History

Madara’s power left a lasting impression on Ōnoki, who encountered him while serving as the First Tsuchikage’s guard at the First Five Kage Summit 3. After death, Madara watches events in the Ninja World from the Pure Land. He regards Obito as a crucial participant in his Eye of the Moon Plan; Obito’s death at Kyoshin Uchiha’s hands threatens that plan 53 70.

Kabuto reincarnates Madara during the Fourth Shinobi World War. Madara challenges the Five Kage, then turns his attention to Kyoshin. Kyoshin destroys his Complete Body Susanoo, counters his Wood Release, eliminates five summoned meteors, and seals his reincarnated form 177 179 180. Madara returns, revives himself, and becomes the Ten-Tails’ jinchūriki. When Kyoshin awakens a Nine-Tomoe Rinnegan, Madara insists on continuing their duel but declines to attack while Kyoshin heals Nagato 180 181 182.

Kyoshin later shows Madara another world in which Kaguya emerges from a parallel Madara’s body. Furious at the deception behind his plan, Madara attacks Kaguya 185. Following the war, he rejects Kyoshin’s invitation to Iwagakure, saying he does not believe people can truly understand one another 189.

Appearance

Madara is shown in different forms as his condition changes:

• Reincarnated: Long black hair, crimson Warring States armor, and the cracks and gray glow of Impure World Reincarnation 177.
• Ten-Tails’ jinchūriki: Long white hair, a white robe, Rinnegan, and a ring of black Truth-Seeking Orbs behind him 181.

Personality

Madara is proud of his strength and eager to face an opponent who can challenge him. Kyoshin’s superior Susanoo excites him even as their fight shakes his confidence 179 180. He takes pride in Kyoshin as an exceptional Uchiha, despite seeing him as a threat to the Eye of the Moon Plan 70 158. His pursuit of peace is persistent, but he remains skeptical that mutual understanding can achieve it 189.

Dōjutsu and Susanoo

• His Complete Body Susanoo wields a greatsword capable of devastating the battlefield; Kyoshin’s Susanoo destroys it in a direct clash 179.
• His Rinnegan technique, Limbo: Border Jail, creates four intangible shadows that can act in the real world 183.

Large-scale ninjutsu

• Tengai Shinsei summons meteorites. Kyoshin destroys five of them with Sage Art Dust Release 179 180.
• Wood Release: Deep Forest Emergence spreads enormous roots and trees across the battlefield 179.
• As the Ten-Tails’ jinchūriki, he uses Truth-Seeking Orbs and Sage Art techniques, including Yin Release: Lightning Dispatch and Storm Release Light Fang 181 182 183.
