Li Taibai grew up in an orphanage alongside Ling Feng and Ye Fan, where the three were regarded as unusual “outliers.” He wore a washed-out long robe and was seen using a tree branch to write on the ground. 10

His awakening of the Green Lotus Sword and Sword Immortal Wine Gourd made him a sought-after genius. Qian Daoliu and Bibi Dong competed to recruit him and the other gifted children, while Golden Crocodile Douluo promised cultivation resources and a route toward becoming a Titled Douluo. 12 Li Taibai ultimately became Qian Daoliu’s personal and final disciple, receiving a spatial Soul Tool as a meeting gift. 13 Li Taibai and Ye Fan subsequently exchanged a competitive look, establishing an early rivalry. 13

Li Taibai is a transmigrator whose Favorability System accompanied him into the Douluo Continent. He can be flattering and manipulative, such as when he used an ancient text about the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to encourage Qian Daoliu’s participation in an expedition. 40 He also attempted to secure advantages from Qian Renxue by asking to learn her Inch Burst technique and later requesting additional Magic Tools before undertaking a mission in Slaughter City. 40 220

His conduct toward enemies is notably cruel: he advocated psychologically destroying Tang Hao rather than killing him outright, humiliated Tang San, blackmailed Tang Hao, and later tortured the injured Tang Hao. 47 54 107 110 During the conflict with Shrek, he helped prepare hallucinogenic drugs for a nighttime raid and used threats to coerce Tang San’s group. 201 205

Despite his arrogance, Li Taibai recognizes overwhelming strength. Li Taibai’s twin-Martial-Soul awakening placed him at the center of the Worship Hall–Pope Hall recruitment dispute. 12 He chose Qian Daoliu as his teacher and became the Grand Elder’s final disciple. 13 He later rose alongside Ling Feng and Ye Fan, acquiring a third soul skill and joining them against Qian Renxue. 36

Li Taibai subsequently revealed the Green Lotus Domain during a second confrontation with Qian Renxue, though the Three Heroes were again decisively defeated. 39 Qian Daoliu’s response to their performance was to increase their monthly cultivation resources. 40

Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well expedition

Li Taibai supplied Qian Daoliu with information from an ancient book concerning the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, helping set the expedition in motion. 40 His real motive included gaining a share of the well’s resources and taking advantage of Qian Daoliu’s support. 40 At the well, he assessed the fortune surrounding Tang Hao, Tang Xiao, and Tang San, then traded information and loyalty for Qian Renxue’s pills and favor. 42 48

Conflict with the Tang family and Shrek
