Queen of the Snake People Clan

The Elder Council originally intended to select one of the sisters as queen. Cai Lin yielded the position to Cai Die, but Cai Die escaped rather than accept confinement within the clan. Cai Lin subsequently bore the responsibilities of queenship and intervened against many of those pursuing her sister, although the pursuit continued 121 198.

As Queen Medusa, she gained a fearsome reputation throughout the desert. Nevertheless, she deliberately moved her battle with Yun Yun away from the Snake People City to prevent innocent clanspeople from becoming casualties 65 70.

Evolution and Life with Xiao Yu

Cai Lin and Cai Die endured Heavenly Flames together and successfully evolved into Seven-Colored Heavenly Pythons. Their immediate aftermath left them in small snake forms under Xiao Yu’s care 73 82 651.

After regaining the ability to appear in human form, Medusa accompanied Xiao Yu through the Black Corner Region. He proposed the name Cai Lin, matching her younger sister’s name, and bought her a pale red veil and shoes to make her less conspicuous. Although impatient with his demands, she privately liked the name 168 169.

Her continued presence initially revolved around obtaining the Spirit Fusion Pill to resolve the Sky Swallowing Python’s soul-related restrictions. She negotiated a monthly alternation with the python and repeatedly pressed Xiao Yu to gather the necessary ingredients. Later, she accepted two drops of Nine-Colored Sky Swallowing Python true blood in exchange for another ten years of protection, explicitly retaining the right to intervene whenever her clan faced danger 176 192 302 335.

Return to the Clan

An emergency signal from the clan’s Soul Altar prompted Cai Lin to return from Black Mountain Fortress with Zi Yan. Facing pressure from the Chuyun Empire, she ordered the eight great tribes to gather in the royal city and proposed an alliance with the Jia Ma Empire despite resistance rooted in their longstanding blood feud 355 360 361.

She also asserted Cai Die’s place within the clan, warning the Four Great Elders that her younger sister deserved recognition and protection. Cai Lin gave Cai Die one drop of Nine-Colored Python blood essence and entrusted the elders with guarding her evolution. When Yan Luotian subsequently sought an alliance against the Jia Ma Empire, Cai Lin rejected his offer and fought him until he withdrew 362 363.

Relationship and Further Evolution

Cai Lin’s attachment to Xiao Yu gradually outgrew their original arrangement. Yun Yun recognized her feelings before she openly acknowledged them; Cai Lin and Xiao Yu eventually became intimate following Xiao Yan and Nalan Yanran’s wedding 318 420.

In the Central Plains, she sensed an unexplained attraction that also stirred her remaining Nine-Colored Python blood essence. Xiao Yu suspected a connection to the Nine-Colored Primordial Stone. She later entered the System Space to refine the blood essence, forming an enormous egg whose seven-colored energy gradually developed two additional colors 460 475 547.

Her seclusion continued beneath the Nine Nether Yellow Springs. With Xiao Yu supplying energy through the Chaos Green Lotus, she emerged as a Nine-Colored Sky Swallowing Python and reached Three-Star Dou Sheng 626.

Clan Relocation and the Great Thousand World

During a later visit to the desert, Cai Lin arranged for Cai Die and Xiao Yu to confront their feelings for one another. She and Xiao Yu also relocated the entire Snake People Clan to a mountain range within the Jia Ma Empire because its desert territory was no longer suitable for cultivation 681.

After arriving in the Great Thousand World, Cai Lin and Ya Fei were imprisoned at Spirit Concubine Palace. Spirit Concubine Zi intended to offer them to the Western Heaven War Emperor, but Xiao Yu secured their release by bargaining with an Earth Sovereign Pill 688.

When the Sky Wolf Sect was exposed as responsible for Cai Die’s capture and attempted sale, Cai Lin accompanied Xiao Yu in attacking the sect. After he suppressed its leaders, she killed Xu Zhong and the elders in revenge. She later learned auction-house operations from Ya Fei to support Xiao Yu’s plans for the Shang and Tianluo continents 694 717.
