Background / History
Madara was once Hashirama Senju's closest friend and joined him in founding Konoha. Their shared desire for peace ultimately divided into irreconcilable methods: Hashirama sought understanding between people, while Madara pursued a more absolute solution. His competitiveness and refusal to accept remaining beneath Hashirama contributed to their final break. 178 203
Black Zetsu exploited Madara's beliefs for centuries, steering him toward the Infinite Tsukuyomi and using him as a prospective vessel for Kaguya's revival. Madara believed Black Zetsu was his own will and regarded the Eye of the Moon Plan as the path to permanent peace. 161 203
Black Zetsu later controlled Nagato and used Rinne Rebirth to restore Madara to his prime, at the cost of Nagato's life. Upon returning, Madara immediately attempted to summon the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, but Feng Yao's control over it prevented him from doing so. 156 157
Appearance
After his complete revival, Madara appears in his physical prime: a tall, imposing man with long dark hair and overwhelming chakra. His appearance varies with his condition and equipment. 155 157 176
- His pre-revival body is elderly, gray-haired, and deeply wrinkled, though preserved by Hashirama Cells. 155
- His restored body initially appears bare-chested before he resumes combat. 157
- He later wears a black bodysuit beneath layered red armor and carries a flaming Gunbai. 176
- He possesses Rinnegan; he temporarily replaces a missing eye with Feng Yao's left eye. 157 161
- His right arm is destroyed by a Truth-Seeking Orb and cannot be restored through ordinary methods; Feng Yao later regenerates it through Yin-Yang Release. 170 176 204
Personality
Madara is proud, battle-hungry, and intensely confident in his own judgment. He initially dismisses Feng Yao as entertainment, but quickly becomes intrigued when Feng Yao demonstrates abilities that threaten even his complete-body Susanoo. 157 159
His commitment to Infinite Tsukuyomi is rooted in a genuine desire for peace, but he refuses to abandon a plan that validates his sacrifices and resurrection. This conviction makes him dismiss Feng Yao's warnings about Black Zetsu until Black Zetsu reveals the truth directly. 161 203
After learning that his life's objective was built on deception, Madara loses his will to fight. Feng Yao's visions of other worlds give him a new ambition, allowing him to reconcile with Hashirama and offer his strength to Feng Yao's cause. 203 204 206
“Brat, the only person in this world who could rival me was Hashirama Senju.” 157
“You truly astonish me, Feng Yao. To be honest, I would very much like to visit those worlds myself.” 206
