Background and History
Lan Si was born to Lan Zong and his wife Ye Xinlan, a union marked by tragedy and family opposition. Ye Xinlan belonged to the Nine Heart Begonia clan, a renowned healing lineage, but her martial soul had mutated, distinguishing her from her relatives. She married Lan Zong against the wishes of her brother Ye Renxin, creating a rift with her family. Lan Zong's background was equally fraught: he was the illegitimate son of a disciple of the Clear Sky Sect, who had abandoned both him and his grandmother due to the grandmother's status as a songstress 43 44. Lan Zong's father—Lan Si's grandfather—was a disciple of the Clear Sky Sect, making Lan Si a descendant of that powerful sect’s bloodline; his great-grandfather was the son of the Seventh Elder of the Clear Sky Sect 162. When Lan Si was less than two years old, his parents ventured into the Star Dou Great Forest to obtain a soul ring for Lan Zong. There, they were killed by soul beasts, leaving Lan Si an orphan 2 44. Because Ye Xinlan had taken Lan Si away to avoid implicating her family and the Clear Sky Sect, the boy was placed in the care of a blacksmith named Otto in Nuoding City 44.
Otto, a kind and hardworking blacksmith who ran a successful shop, took in the infant Lan Si and raised him as his own son. The blacksmiths in Otto’s forge were fond of the boy and treated him with warmth, despite his young age and lack of skill. Otto himself was a simple man whose martial soul could never become a Soul Master, but he poured his care into Lan Si, hoping to see the boy awaken his martial soul at age six 2 133. Their relationship was that of a devoted guardian and grateful ward; Lan Si later referred to Otto as his uncle, and the bond remained strong even as Lan Si grew in power and stature 134. Lan Si eventually helped Otto begin cultivation, and Otto later reached the Title Douluo realm through divine power bestowed by Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue 133 429.
Long before turning six, Lan Si had awoken memories of a past life. In that previous existence, he was a man named Li Cunsi, a Taibao of the Jin state during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. He had attained the Great Heaven Realm with the Five Thunders Heart Art before being pursued and fatally wounded by Yuan Tiangang, the Bad Commander 1. He remembered two women: one he loved unrequitedly and another he loved profoundly but was separated from—possibly due to the nature of the Cyan Lotus martial soul that connected to his transmigration 231 341. These past-life recollections included knowledge of powerful cultivation techniques, most notably the Supreme Universe Art and the Five Thunders Heart Art 2. In his brief early childhood, he also saw visions of his past-life family—a loving mother and father—and his own small self activating a Cyan Lotus Martial Soul, which signaled the beginning of his cultivation journey in that former world 110. The weight of these memories brought him both comfort and sorrow; he later wept when he fully recalled them, finding solace in the arms of those close to him 110.
From a very young age, Lan Si resolved to keep his past life and his cultivation knowledge secret. He planned to practice the Supreme Universe Art and the Five Thunders Heart Art in secret, not revealing his abilities to Otto or anyone else 2. He also intended to exploit the more advanced blacksmithing of Douluo Continent to manufacture firearms, arranging for forged components while personally handling gunpowder and assembly 2. This decision was driven both by the need for self-protection in a world where powerful techniques could invite danger and by a latent distrust of the existing soul master establishment—a distrust rooted in his father's abandonment by the Clear Sky Sect and his parents' deaths in the soul beast forest, deaths for which he later learned Spirit Hall bore no direct blame 44 87. He would only grow strong enough to stand on his own before considering any reckoning with the powers that had wronged his family 44.
After obtaining sufficient power, Lan Si returned to the world of his former life. There, he aided Li Keyong, confronted figures from the Tongwen Pavilion, acquired additional martial arts including the Nine Nether Profound Heaven Divine Skill, and eventually helped the Qi Kingdom unify the world. He deliberately cultivated public faith through infrastructure, education, aid, political reform, and displays of divine power, intending to use that faith to pursue a god position beyond the existing God Kings 338 340 368 386.
The key events of Lan Si’s early history can be summarized as follows:
- Parents’ death: Lan Zong and Ye Xinlan are killed by soul beasts in the Star Dou Great Forest while hunting for a soul ring when Lan Si is under two years old 2 44.
- Taken in by Otto: Otto, a blacksmith in Nuoding City, raises Lan Si as his own son 2.

- Decision to cultivate in secret: He resolves to secretly practice the Supreme Universe Art and the Five Thunders Heart Art, concealing his true abilities 2.
- Discovery of his maternal lineage: At age six or later, Lan Si learns his mother was Ye Xinlan of the Nine Heart Begonia clan, and his uncle Ye Renxin acknowledges him 43 44.
- Discovery of his paternal Clear Sky Sect heritage: Later revelations, including a conversation between Tang Hao and Tang San, confirm Lan Si’s descent from the Clear Sky Sect through his great-grandfather 162.
- Return to the former world: Lan Si revisits the world of The Degenerates, reclaims aspects of his former identity as Li Cunsi, and gains the Nine Nether Profound Heaven Divine Skill 338 340 341.

Abilities and Techniques
Martial Souls
Lan Si possesses a unique ability to wield two martial souls simultaneously, a feat that even renowned Twin Martial Soul users like Bibi Dong and Tang San could only achieve by switching between them. This simultaneous manifestation allows him to combine the strengths of both souls in battle and is a cornerstone of his combat prowess 5 225. His primary martial soul is the Chaos Cyan Lotus, an evolved form of his original Cyan Fire Lotus, which has absorbed the extreme cold and heat properties of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. This evolution grants it both fire and ice attributes, making it highly versatile in combat 96 122. The Chaos Cyan Lotus is also capable of wielding powerful orange-red flames, which are connected to his fusion with Xiao Wu's soul 323. His second martial soul is the Clear Sky Bamboo Shoot, later referred to in combat as Thor’s Hammer, a hammer-type martial soul. True to its name, it has a long, slender shape resembling a bamboo shoot, covered in lightning and golden spiral patterns. This form is a malleable variation of the legendary Clear Sky Hammer, which Lan Si can freely alter in appearance 4 122 225. He often uses the Clear Sky Bamboo Shoot for its heavy physical attacks and lightning-based properties 257.
- Chaos Cyan Lotus: A powerful plant-type martial soul with both fire and ice attributes. It is the core of his domain and many of his soul skills. The lotus can be used to absorb and transform other beings, as seen when he used it to collect Tang San's blood 122.
- Clear Sky Bamboo Shoot / Thor’s Hammer: A variant of the Clear Sky Hammer, this tool-type martial soul resembles a lightning-wreathed bamboo shoot or conical hammer. It is known for its immense striking power and is used in conjunction with the Chaos Cyan Lotus for devastating fusion attacks 4 225.
- Simultaneous Manifestation: Lan Si can deploy both martial souls at the same time, something other Twin Martial Soul owners cannot do. This allows him to execute complex techniques, such as his Self-Martial Soul Fusion Skill, and drastically increases his overall combat capabilities 5 225.
- Dual-Martial-Soul Soul Rings: In addition to completing the Cyan Lotus’s ring configuration, Lan Si later acquired powerful rings for the Clear Sky Bamboo Shoot and used a God-Given Soul Ring to complete its seventh ring, enabling his ascent to the Limit Douluo realm 374.
Soul Skills
Lan Si’s soul skills are diverse, ranging from weapon conjuration to elemental manipulation and summoning. He can also execute many of his lower-level soul skills without activating his soul rings, a passive benefit from his Cyan Lotus Domain. His soul ring configuration later includes numerous black and red rings; by the time he used his seventh ring, his visible Cyan Lotus configuration was yellow, yellow, purple, black, black, black, and red 326.
- First Soul Skill: Cyan Lotus Assault: A group attack skill where the Cyan Lotus splits into eight blades that strike with armor-piercing force. A key passive ability of this skill is that it grants the Cyan Lotus martial soul the ability to fly, allowing Lan Si to use the lotus as a platform for short-term flight 13.
- Second Soul Skill: Cyan Lotus Clone: This skill allows Lan Si to split his Cyan Lotus into multiple clones. The number of clones is equal to the square of his current soul ring count. With two rings he could create four clones, and with three rings, nine. At his peak with nine rings, he could theoretically create eighty-one clones, making him a formidable area-control threat 21.
- Third Soul Skill: This soul skill allows Lan Si to use split-off Cyan Lotuses to execute skills with the same effect as Tang San's "Parasite" skill. He also demonstrated the ability to use a Soul-Eater Spider Web Restraint through his domain, which binds enemies and absorbs their soul power 21 233 256.
- Fourth Soul Skill: Cyan Lotus Sword: A rare and powerful weapon-type soul skill. Lan Si condenses his soul power into a single, sharp sword of cyan energy. This skill is known for its ability to concentrate all of his strength into a single point, making it his strongest single-target killing move, capable of easily defeating powerful combined attacks like an Ice Phoenix 172 325.
- Fifth Soul Skill: Buddha Fury Fire Lotus: Obtained after refining the Ten-Headed Fierce Yang Serpent’s inner core. It creates an exceptionally destructive fire-lotus attack and was unveiled after Lan Si’s soul power surged to level 57 277.
- Sixth Soul Skill: Lan Si possesses a soul skill that allows him to fuse the power of his absorbed soul beasts into his attacks. For example, he can channel the soul power of beasts like the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger and the Soft Bone Rabbit into his Cyan Lotus Sword 325.
- Space Teleportation: A space-type skill acquired through his sixth ring. Lan Si can establish spatial marks and travel through void passages, using the ability for infiltration, retreat, and long-distance travel 292 332.
- Seventh Soul Skill: Cyan Lotus Avatar: A significant transformation skill that massively amplifies his attributes. All skills cast by the Cyan Lotus Martial Soul are amplified by 100%, and his own strength, speed, and strongest attribute are also amplified by 100%. Furthermore, the orange-red flames from his fusion with Xiao Wu condense into a massive, tangible flame giant that can both attack and defend, granting him strength comparable to a Title Douluo when he was still a Soul Saint 323.
- Cyan Lotus Heart-Slaying Chain: A powerful control skill obtained from a fifty-thousand-year soul beast. It releases eight locking chains that bind targets, transmit the Chaos Cyan Lotus’s flames and fire poison, and carry hooked tips capable of inflicting severe injury 350.
Domains
Lan Si possesses an innate domain known as the Cyan Lotus Domain, which evolved directly from his Chaos Cyan Lotus martial soul. It is a tremendously versatile and powerful domain that has undergone several evolutions, granting new abilities at each stage.
- Initial Stage (Illusion): The domain’s first stage grants the Transformation ability. By touching a target's blood with his Cyan Lotus martial soul, Lan Si can perfectly mimic their appearance and aura. This transformation is so flawless that even a Title Douluo cannot see through it. It also grants a passive ability to execute his first three (later first four) soul ring skills without needing to activate his soul rings 96 107 257.
- Second Stage (Nightmare Heart Devour): The domain later develops an ability by which countless giant cyan lotuses devour enemies and extract soul power equivalent to Lan Si’s level, replenishing his reserves. He used it to harvest the soul power of numerous surrounding soul beasts during the battle against the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger 257 289.
- Third Stage (Space Moon Reflection): After Lan Si acquired his seventh ring, the domain completed its third evolution. It suppresses an opponent's total attributes by ten percent and amplifies Lan Si's own total attributes by ten percent. The passive ability upgrades to allow him to execute his first seven soul ring skills without using soul rings 307.
- Fourth Stage: In a later transformation, the Cyan Lotus Domain gained a new, unnamed stage. This stage allowed Lan Si to alter the appearance of his owned soul bones, such as his Soul-Devouring Eight Spider Lances, to perfectly match those of another person, like Tang San. While the essence remained different, the visual and physical imitation was perfect, highlighting the domain’s advanced mimicry capabilities 122.
- God of Slaughter Domain: Following his time in Slaughter City, Lan Si also gained the God of Slaughter Domain. He can combine its battlefield enhancement with the Cyan Lotus Domain and his fusion skill 289.
Soul Bones
Lan Si possesses an exceptionally rare collection of soul bones, which substantially enhance both his body and spiritual power.
- Soul-Devouring Eight Spider Lances: An External Soul Bone acquired from the Soul-Eater Demon Spider. The eight pale-purple lances can support his body, drain soul power, and are compatible with his domain’s mimicry abilities 32 224.
- 100,000-Year Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone: Stolen from Tang Hao’s hidden cache near Holy Soul Village. Its absorption allowed Lan Si to re-enter the Cyan Lotus Space and contributed greatly to his subsequent growth 205.
- 100,000-Year Wisdom Skull: This head soul bone enhanced Lan Si’s mental strength to a level comparable to Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo 307.
- Ice and Fire Dragon King Soul Bones: Lan Si retrieved and absorbed the million-year soul bones left by the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, causing an enormous leap in soul power and physical constitution 349 350.
Self-Martial Soul Fusion Skill
Lan Si’s greatest tactical asset is his ability to perform a Self-Martial Soul Fusion Skill, a feat considered impossible by even the most knowledgeable experts on the continent. By summoning both his Chaos Cyan Lotus and Clear Sky Bamboo Shoot simultaneously and merging their powers, he can transform into a powerful, armored form.
- Technique: Lan Si holds his hands above his head, releasing the Clear Sky Bamboo Shoot wreathed in lightning and the Chaos Cyan Lotus wreathed in orange-red flames. His soul rings shoot into the sky, overlap, and descend as a massive pillar of light that envelops him 256 326.
- Transformation: He is replaced by a youth of slender build, covered from head to toe in magnificent, ice-blue armor. His hair also turns ice-blue, and his face is hidden by the armor 256.
- Effects: In this state, his soul power is boosted to the level of a Soul Saint, even when he was a lower-level Soul Emperor. The armor provides a 50% damage reduction, while his defense and power are each amplified by 100% of the current Soul Saint’s strength. This fusion skill represents an exponential increase in his overall fighting ability 256 257.
- Later Power: After his sixth-ring breakthrough, the fusion skill could surpass an ordinary Soul Douluo. When combined with seven rings, the Cyan Lotus Avatar, the Eight Spider Lances, and his domains, it could contend with the continent’s strongest fighters 292 326.
Cultivation Arts and Soul Tools
In addition to his soul-based abilities, Lan Si cultivates powerful external arts and uses specialized Soul Tools. These arts are separate from his soul power cultivation but directly enhance his physical and combat capabilities.
- Supreme Universe Art: A cultivation art that merges with his Cyan Lotus martial soul, granting it a unique, forest-white energy. Mastering its first layer allows for an overall improvement in his martial soul's quality and, when combined with his other art, enables the simultaneous use of his two martial souls 5.
- Five Thunders Heart Art: A separate cultivation art that manifests as blue electric arcs. It complements the Supreme Universe Art, and its first layer breakthrough grants him powerful lightning abilities that augment his physical attacks and his hammer martial soul 5.
- Nine Nether Profound Heaven Divine Skill: Acquired after Lan Si returned to his former world. It produces Nine Nether Hell Qi and allows him to absorb energy from soul beast corpses to increase the age of his own soul rings, although repeated use eventually provides diminishing soul-power returns 340 348 350.
- Heart of the Sea Blue: A Soul Tool given to him by Otto. It functions as storage and remained with Lan Si throughout his early adventures 5 10.
- Firearms: Lan Si designed and assembled semi-automatic pistols using his former-world knowledge and the forging capabilities of Otto’s workshop. He later gave Qian Renxue a firearm for self-defense 2 9 290.
Relationships
Qian Renxue
Lan Si’s relationship with Qian Renxue began as a test of loyalty when she, disguised as an alluring woman, entered his room to probe his character. He saw through her disguise, and they spent the night together, marking the start of an intimate bond 179. Their dynamic is defined by Qian Renxue’s possessive and dominant nature: she initially threatened to kill Zhu Zhuqing when she learned of Lan Si’s other attachments, forcing him to choose between the women 105. Lan Si refused to choose and instead proposed a soul fight to settle the matter, leading to an eight‑year agreement under which Qian Renxue set strict conditions—he could speak to other women but maintain a one‑meter distance and avoid ambiguous language 106. Over time, her possessiveness softened into trust; she began to affectionately call Zhu Zhuqing “Zhuqing” instead of “that little girl,” and Lan Si openly declared that she was the person he trusted most 183. Their relationship deepened further when they visited Douluo Mountain, where Qian Renxue’s grandfather, Qian Daoliu, challenged Lan Si and discovered she had lost her virginity, causing distress but not severing the bond 226. Their relationship later produced two daughters, Qian Qian and Lan Qingxue. Zhu Zhuqing (Little Kitten)
Lan Si’s relationship with Zhu Zhuqing has roots in a past connection that is gradually revealed. After he defeated Xiao Wu without using his martial soul or soul skills, Zhu Zhuqing recognized him and followed him, hinting at their shared history 54. Their bond grew through playful banter and public displays of affection; Lan Si revealed to her that he possessed Twin Martial Souls, deepening their intimacy 118. After a journey that changed his appearance, Zhu Zhuqing was initially skeptical of the transformed Lan Si until he proved his identity by sharing intimate details about her that only he would know 99. She is fiercely loyal—when another woman, Huo Wu, fought her, Lan Si intervened and left with Zhu Zhuqing and Ye Lingling, showing his support for her 178. Although Lan Si later developed feelings for Qian Renxue, his relationship with Zhu Zhuqing remained strong, and he deceived her about his involvement with Qian Renxue, highlighting the tension between his commitments 180. Ye Lingling, recognizing the depth of their connection, entrusted Lan Si’s care to Zhu Zhuqing, saying, “Sister Zhuqing, I’ll leave my Ah Si in your care from now on” 65.
Zhu Zhuqing later became one of Lan Si’s principal companions and trained under his guidance. With his help, she obtained a fifty-thousand-year Hell Spirit Cat ring as her seventh ring, awakened the Shadow Domain, and later reached Title Douluo alongside Ye Lingling 348 386. Their family bond is the foundation of a close and trusting relationship. Despite Lan Si’s complicated love life, Ye Lingling chose to trust him after he confessed that he could not choose between her, Qian Renxue, and Zhu Zhuqing 184. She is perceptive: when Lan Si returned with an altered appearance, she recognized him by his resemblance to his mother and by his habitual glances at her and Zhu Zhuqing’s chests 99. Initially cold and aloof—even more so than Zhu Zhuqing—Ye Lingling removed her veil to show her otherworldly beauty to Zhu Zhuqing, symbolically accepting her as part of Lan Si’s life 65. She acts as a quiet support, straightening his clothes and showing concern for his welfare 99. When Lan Si’s affairs with Qian Renxue were discovered, Ye Lingling’s understanding hinted at her growing awareness of his actions and her worry for Zhu Zhuqing 180.

She recognized similarities between Lan Si and the boy from her dreams, while Lan Si eventually learned of their earlier connection and became increasingly involved in her life 205 239. Their relationship later became openly romantic among Martial Soul Hall’s highest ranks, although it caused serious strain with Qian Renxue, whose own relationship with Lan Si formed one of Bibi Dong’s inner demons 385 422.

During the promotion round of the All‑Continent Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, Feng Xiaotian challenged Lan Si to a one‑on‑one match, but Lan Si easily defeated him, demonstrating his superior strength 184. The friendship soured when Feng Xiaotian’s simpish devotion to Huo Wu took precedence over his promise to Lan Si; he prioritized Huo Wu’s feelings over their bond 184. Later, Lan Si forfeited the final preliminary qualifier match, disappointing Feng Xiaotian, who had eagerly anticipated a duel 180.
