Background / History

The well was originally maintained as Dugu Bo's medicinal garden. Its unique environment suppressed the toxic backlash of the Dugu Clan's Jade Phosphorous Serpent Martial Soul; Dugu Bo believed it had kept him from being poisoned to death. 12

Qian Daoliu located the site in the Sunset Forest using information from Qin Heng. He led Qin Heng, Yue Guan, and Gui Mei through the poisonous miasma and valley traps, then promised Yue Guan and Gui Mei one immortal herb each in exchange for identifying and tending the garden. 9

Qian Daoliu subsequently assigned Yue Guan to manage the well, with a Title Douluo to assist him. Yue Guan transformed the formerly scattered growth into an organized herb garden, tripling the number of plants cultivated without harming their growth; he also reserved and isolated a plot for Dugu Bo's poisonous herbs and venomous creatures. 9 21

The well's origin was revealed when Qin Heng descended roughly 11,000 meters beneath its surface. At the bottom lay the intact corpses of the Ice Dragon King and Fire Dragon King, whose periodically dripping blood created the Ice and Fire Spirit Liquid that sustains the well. 59

The Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well is an oval spring divided into two perfectly balanced halves: one frigid and ice-colored, the other scorching and crimson. The two waters meet along a thin boundary without mixing, forming a natural Taiji-like pattern. 9 100 113
