Cultivation and Classification

Soul Beasts are creatures whose cultivation is measured in years. Their age, bloodline, attributes, and compatibility with a Soul Master's Martial Soul determine the quality and effects of the Soul Rings and Soul Bones they may provide. 6 19 101

Traditional Relationship with Soul Masters

Soul Masters traditionally advance through major bottlenecks by killing Soul Beasts and absorbing the Soul Rings formed at the moment of the beasts' deaths. The process turns a Soul Beast's life and soul into a Soul Ring under the laws of heaven and earth. 102

Traditional rings retain the resentment and spiritual shock of the slain Soul Beast, making absorption dangerous; failure can cause severe mental injury or death. 123 127 The pursuit of Soul Bones is especially cruel, as a Soul Bone may only form when a Soul Beast dies in extreme pain and resentment. 155

Unrestrained hunting has reduced Soul Beast living space and threatens the long-term availability of Soul Rings for future Soul Masters. 134 155

Forms and Traits

Soul Beasts have no single appearance or temperament. They include animal-, dragon-, insect-, plant-, and humanoid-transforming types, with abilities determined by their species and bloodline. 7 84 87 102

Soul Spirit Method

Creation

Qin Heng created the Soul Spirit Method to replace the killing-based acquisition of Soul Rings with an equal contract between Soul Masters and Soul Beasts. Its development required experiments involving Soul Contracts, Soul Tool arrays, Soul Power conversion, and the laws of heaven and earth. 101

After six months of experimentation, Qin Heng completed the method and its central vessel, the Soul Spirit Orb. 101

Soul Spirit Orbs

A Soul Spirit Orb is a fist-sized Soul Tool made from high-purity Soul Tool metal, inscribed with contract runes and Soul Guidance Arrays. 101

• It contains an independent space in which a Soul Beast's soul and consciousness can reside and cultivate. 101
• It accelerates a contracted Soul Beast's recovery and cultivation efficiency. 123
