Background / History

Chen An founded Phantom Star Academy but initially struggled to recruit students. Its first known disciple was Zhu Zhuqing, whom Chen An recruited after encountering her while she fled her family circumstances 1.

The academy began publicly recruiting outside Shrek Academy, where Zhu Zhuqing and Luo Xiaoshi sought out rejected applicants. Its presence quickly drew conflict with Shrek personnel, culminating in Chen An defeating Flender and openly announcing Phantom Star’s recruitment drive 14 15.

Ning Rongrong subsequently joined as a disciple. Chen An entrusted registration and assessment work to Lin Ran and her team while he returned to the academy 16. The academy later gained Suotuo City’s unconditional support, including tax-exempt commercial operations, after Chen An reached an agreement with City Lord Xue Tiancheng 55.

As its needs expanded, Phantom Star established a Forging Class to produce and replace weapons. The class accepted selected students from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and Spirit Hall, alongside blacksmithing apprentices recruited in Suotuo City 61.

Following the Soul Master Tournament, Phantom Star’s influence continued to grow. The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect relocated to Suotuo City near the academy, and Blazing Academy sought to merge into Phantom Star 105 106. The three elemental academies were later integrated into Phantom Star, forming Phantom Star Five Elements Academy 108.

Phantom Star endured repeated attacks during the conflict with Spirit Hall. Its Academy Protection Array was destroyed during the Rakshasa God’s descent, but its first-generation disciples remained defiant under the protection of their cultivation techniques until Chen An returned 129. The academy subsequently expanded its defensive infrastructure, training, and affiliated forces while serving as a central force in resisting continent-wide crises 182 186.

Following the political transformation of Heaven Dou and Star Luo into the Douluo Federation, Phantom Star was elevated as the National Academy. Its influence extended beyond education into research, public defense, technological development, and Federation governance; during Chen An’s fifteen-year absence in the God Realm, it also became recognized as the Federation’s state religion 186 189 216.

By the God Realm’s subsequent invasion, Phantom Star had developed into a massive defensive center supported by graduates, veterans, grand formations, and Federation-wide shelter arrays. Its disciples assumed responsibility for confronting the invading gods while Chen An coordinated the academy’s overall defense 222 224 226.
