"Understood. I'll go check how many exits that underground 'rat hole' has. See you in a bit."

With those words, the Rakshasa Phantom vanished from its spot with a sudden surge. It slipped silently into the antique building by trailing the shadows of passersby, beginning to scout out every exit of this Evil Soul Master hideout.

Underground...

Entering the basement through a gap in a floorboard's hidden compartment, the Rakshasa Phantom walked upside down on the ceiling as if it were flat ground, navigating a basement far larger than it had initially expected.

In the center of the basement, two crooked-looking Evil Soul Masters were drinking. Despite there being only the two of them—one fat, one thin—they had laid out a massive table of food and were drinking to their hearts' content.

"Hey, tell me, brother, what did you go up there for just now?" the thin Evil Soul Master, who looked like a skeleton, asked while gulping down a cup of wine, stuttering as he spoke to the chubby meatball sitting across from him.

"What else? Had too much to drink, went up to catch some air, and happened to pick out two people. Planning to drag them back tonight to go with the wine."

"Drag them back tonight to go with the wine? Brother, what are you thinking? We've been drinking since noon; how could we possibly drink until tonight!"

"Then just use soul power to purge it, and we can keep drinking tonight."

"Bullshit. If you purge it with soul power, what's the point of drinking? If you ask me, drinking until you pass out and sleeping until the next day—that's the real pleasure." The thin Evil Soul Master let out a drunken belch, and as if remembering something, he suddenly stood up and shouted toward the other side: "Oi, you three, get in here."

"Yes."

Soon, three masked figures draped in gray cloaks walked in one after another through a hidden door on the other side of the basement. The leader knelt on one knee and called out respectfully to the two Evil Soul Masters: "Great Holy Spirit, Second Holy Spirit, what are your orders?"

"We're running out of snacks for the wine. There are plenty of people outside, so you three go grab two and bring them down." The fat Evil Soul Master sitting at the table shook his leg and added nonchalantly: "Be quick! You hear me!"

As soon as the Evil Soul Master finished speaking, the small, thin gray-robed figure on the right of the trio suppressed his fear and whispered:

"Great Holy Spirit, Second Holy Spirit, but right now..."

"You bastard! You dare to negotiate with me!" The thin Evil Soul Master was enraged upon hearing this. He flew up and kicked the gray-robed figure, sending the small person flying several meters away, while cursing:

"Do you still want to see your families or not? If not, just tell me, and I'll refine them into vengeful spirits right now."

The kicked figure scrambled and crawled to the feet of the fat Evil Soul Master, pleading mournfully:

"Great Holy Spirit, I know I was wrong. I'll go grab people right now."

"Hmph! Get lost!"

After saying this, the fat, ball-like Evil Soul Master shook his cloak and sat back down at the table.

Before long, the Rakshasa Phantom emerged from Qian Yuhan's shadow once more, spilling everything it had discovered in the underground chamber:

"The place where the Evil Soul Masters are hiding has only two entrances and exits, including the main door. Both sides have traps. Those two Soul Emperor Evil Soul Masters are holed up underground drinking, and that bastard who glared at us earlier is one of them."

"..."

"So, one for each of us?" Qian Yuhan pondered for a moment, offering a very fair distribution suggestion, but the Rakshasa Phantom's eyes darted away. After a moment, it added: "Actually, I haven't finished yet."

"There are also... uh, three lackeys who seem to be coerced into grabbing people from the roadside, but these three, by normal standards... probably don't count as Evil Soul Masters yet."

"But as the saying goes, it's better to kill a thousand by mistake than to let one go. If they can act as dogs for Evil Soul Masters and help them kidnap people, they certainly aren't good things either. Old Qian, if you ask me, let's just slaughter all three of these accomplices along with them."

"That's not right." Qian Yuhan shook his head, lost in thought:

"Since they aren't Evil Soul Masters yet, it means they can still be saved. We should help them turn over a new leaf."

"And what if they remain stubborn and refuse to repent?" the Rakshasa Phantom asked.

"Stubborn and refuse to repent?" Qian Yuhan chewed on these words, clearly sensing that the Rakshasa Phantom's words held deep meaning—or rather, were pointing at something.

"Exactly," the Rakshasa Phantom nodded frantically.

"Then there's nothing to be done. We can only hope they correct their ways after they die and strive not to be bad people in their next life."

"Uh... how can they correct their ways after they're dead?" the Rakshasa Phantom asked again.

"..." Qian Yuhan paused, then said with a blank expression:

"How they correct themselves is not our concern; that's a problem for them to worry about. All we need to do is send the Evil Soul Masters and those who refuse to repent to their deaths."

"Old Qian, to be honest, your way of thinking is really starting to suit my tastes more and more."

Hearing the Rakshasa Phantom's jubilant tone, the corner of Qian Yuhan's eye twitched slightly. He said with a wry smile: "I feel like... this is the way of thinking a normal person should have!"

"Then what are we waiting for? Before they have a chance to escape, let's charge into that dark basement and use our blood-boiling combo skill on those two dog-like Evil Soul Masters!"

As it spoke, the Rakshasa Phantom darted behind Qian Yuhan, grabbing his shoulders and shaking him vigorously.

Qian Yuhan raised a hand to swat away the phantom's intangible hands and sighed helplessly:

"Don't be impatient. Let's plan this out first. I remember you said those two Evil Soul Masters ordered their three... subordinates to go up and grab some people, right?"

"Yeah, but does that have any necessary connection to your plan?"

"Of course it does." Qian Yuhan curled his lips into a strange smile: "If—and I mean if—we intentionally let those three bring us in, wouldn't we avoid all those traps you mentioned at the entrances and exits?"

"That's true, that would work." The Rakshasa Phantom nodded noncommittally, then drew an inference:

"Got it. The first step of our plan is to find the subordinates sent by the Evil Soul Masters and let them bring us in. Leave that to me; when I came out just now, I already marked all three of them."

"Exactly, that is the first step of my plan. And the second step is the most crucial and important part of the entire operation!"

At this, Qian Yuhan's expression turned solemn. Even the Rakshasa Phantom couldn't help but become serious. It widened its eyes and asked sternly: "What is the second step?"

"The second step is to kill those two Evil Soul Masters."
