Xie Xie let go of the arm he had wrapped around Tang Wulin's waist. His knees buckled, and he nearly collapsed to the ground.
He had just used three Soul Skills in a row, then teleported twice to save someone. The Soul Power in his body was already completely spent; even standing left his legs trembling.
Tang Wulin was also still settling the turbulent Soul Power inside him.

She looked Tang Wulin up and down first, making sure he wasn't injured, then glanced at Xie Xie. Her tone wasn't exactly kind, but beneath it lay a hint of concern that was hard to detect.
"At least your reflexes were quick. You weren't completely stupid."
"Hey, you nasty woman! I saved Wulin, and that's how you treat me?"
Xie Xie immediately objected, sticking out his chin as he retorted. But his voice lacked its usual confidence; he was simply too drained.
Gu Yue gave a soft snort, unusually choosing not to take issue with what he'd called her.
She turned to Tang Wulin and said quietly, "There was too much commotion here. It could attract other Soul Beasts. Let's find somewhere safe to recover."
