Background / History

Gu Yue seeks admission to Eastsea Academy and is told by Wu Zhangkong that she must earn it herself. Her first assessment becomes a duel with Xie Xie, whom she defeats by cycling wind, fire, ice, and earth attacks before burying him in the ground. Their rivalry begins with mud, fireballs, and repeated bickering rather than lasting hostility. 12 13 14

She initially declines the Tang Sect despite Tang Wulin and Xie Xie joining it, explaining that she intends to enter the Spirit Pagoda instead. She nevertheless supports Tang Wulin’s decision and trusts that Xie Xie will support her own choice. 97

During Shrek Academy’s entrance assessments, Gu Yue displays control of earth, water, wind, fire, and light, forming a four-colored lotus with spatial properties. Cai Yue'er offers to accept her as a disciple and waive the remaining examinations, but Gu Yue refuses because Cai had struck her partner, Xie Xie. She later enters Shrek Academy as a work-study student with her companions. 159 177

Gu Yue eventually reveals that her apparent Element Control martial soul is the Seven-Colored Dragon. She is the Silver Dragon King and possesses seven elemental attributes, including the darkness she had concealed. 264

Appearance

Gu Yue is a striking young woman with long dark hair and violet eyes. She commonly wears her hair in a high ponytail, though she also lets it fall loose; a purple gemstone headband particularly complements her appearance. 22 179

  • Calm, cool-toned violet eyes that become visibly intense when she is angered or conflicted.
  • Usually carries herself with proud composure and an untouchable air.
  • Her black hair turns white as she reclaims Silver Dragon King power from Na'er, while her features become sharper and more mature. 444
  • Makes an elegant, ethereal impression at formal events. 315

Personality

Gu Yue is proud, blunt, and confident in her own strength. She has little patience for posturing or empty threats, openly dismissing a stronger opponent’s attempt to intimidate her before overwhelming him with an Elemental Storm. 80

In battle, she is calculating and highly adaptive, using reconnaissance, terrain control, elemental counters, and spatial movement to dictate a fight. However, her temper can override that judgment: Shrek evaluators criticize her impulsiveness and lack of big-picture awareness, and a misunderstanding involving Tang Wulin leads her to attack before hearing an explanation. 143 170 209

Behind her detached demeanor, Gu Yue is deeply concerned with identity and change. She fears becoming someone different, but Xie Xie’s assurance that “Gu Yue is Gu Yue” helps steady her resolve. She also shows care through practical actions, such as tending Xie Xie’s injuries, preparing food for him, and giving valuable opportunities to Xu Xiaoyan rather than claiming them for herself. 46 126 168 276

Abilities & Skills

Seven-Colored Dragon

Gu Yue’s martial soul is the Seven-Colored Dragon, while “Element Control” is merely its outward expression. She commands seven elements: earth, water, wind, fire, light, space, and darkness. 264

  • Uses earth for walls, restraints, spikes, and battlefield control.
  • Uses wind, fire, water, and ice offensively in rapid combinations.
  • Uses light for blinding, amplification, and elemental fusion.
  • Concealed darkness because its use could cause others to suspect her of being an Evil Soul Master. 264
  • Her light and darkness attributes naturally oppose one another and cannot ordinarily be used together. 264

Elemental Combination Techniques

Gu Yue combines multiple elements into large-scale techniques rather than relying on a single attribute.

  • Ice and Snow Storm — An emotionally driven elemental combination that severely injures Zhang Yangzi and Wang Jinxi but leaves Gu Yue nearly collapsed from soul-power expenditure. 41
  • Elemental Storm — Fuses wind, ice, fire, and earth into a destructive vortex; Gu Yue can hover at its center while controlling the converging elements. 80
  • Four Element Storm — Combines fire, wind, water, and earth after manifesting four Elemental Hearts. 205
  • Elemental Tide — Used alongside Wu Sidu, Xu Xiaoyan, and Ye Xinglan to defeat a five-ring Soul King. 246
  • Elemental Chaos Sphere — A high-level multielement technique used against Xie Xie during their later confrontation. 439

Spatial Manipulation and Creation

Gu Yue employs space both defensively and offensively.

  • Teleports to evade close-range opponents and reposition for attacks. 80 283
  • Opens spatial rifts to redirect incoming attacks. 439
  • Forms a four-colored lotus from earth, water, wind, and fire, then adds light and spatial power to make it vanish from sight. 159
  • Crafts elemental objects, including a crystal pendant that can store and harmonize elemental power. 46 205

Elemental Hearts

Gu Yue’s control is refined enough to comprehend multiple Elemental Hearts at once.

  • Masters two Elemental Hearts simultaneously during a tournament match. 130
  • Later manifests four elemental halos while combining Four Element Control with an Elemental Heart. 205

Mecha Design

Gu Yue possesses professional-level design talent in addition to combat ability.

  • Designs Xie Xie’s right-hand Battle Armor gauntlet with practical features tailored to him. 207
  • Wins a mecha-design contest against Bai Hanying.
  • Her design is judged complete, practical, and equal to a fifth-rank designer’s standard. 237

Relationships

  • Xie Xie — Begins as her defeated rival and frequent target of her fireballs, then becomes her closest companion and romantic love. She entrusts him with an elemental pendant, confesses to him, and ultimately admits that she cannot bear to harm him because she loves him. 46 126 318 427 443
  • Tang Wulin — Classmate and companion. Gu Yue supports his decision to join the Tang Sect despite pursuing a different path herself; the two can use the Dragon God Transformation Martial Soul Fusion Skill, though both dislike relying on it. 97 264
  • Na'er — A consciousness separated from Gu Yue and tied to the Silver Dragon King’s origin. Their relationship is marked by shared identity, conflict over Xie Xie, and Gu Yue’s decision to reclaim her power while separating part of her own origin. 309 444 445
  • Xu Xiaoyan — Teammate who trusts Gu Yue’s judgment, including when seeking a suitable second soul spirit. Gu Yue gives Xu Xiaoyan the Three-Eyed Golden Ni skull rather than absorbing it herself. 143 168
  • Wu Zhangkong — Early instructor at Eastsea Academy who requires Gu Yue to earn her admission through combat. 12 13
  • Cai Yue'er — Shrek elder who tries to take Gu Yue as a disciple. Gu Yue refuses the offer despite direct Inner Court admission being attached to it. 159
  • Leng Yaozhu — Gu Yue’s teacher and a Spirit Pagoda senior. 213
