Background / History

Obito attended the Ninja Academy alongside Rin Nohara and Zhengyi. Before Zhengyi became a romantic rival for Rin's attention, Obito and Zhengyi were close friends who were punished together for arriving late to class. Zhengyi's public confessions and hundreds of love letters to Rin turned that friendship into a long-running rivalry. 2

As Minato's student, Obito served alongside Kakashi and Rin. He was determined to become Hokage, sought recognition through missions, and trained intensely after being embarrassed by Zhengyi's superior physique. 10 11 13 23

Personality

Obito is highly emotional, earnest, and openly competitive. His rivalry with Zhengyi stems from both their childhood friendship and their shared feelings for Rin; even so, he continued using Zhengyi's gym and eventually accepted Zhengyi's efforts to protect Rin. 2 13 45

He is intensely devoted to his comrades, particularly Rin and Minato. He repeatedly chose their safety over mission priorities, protected Rin from falling rocks, and helped rescue Minato from Iwagakure captors. 29 31 32
