Background & History

Bai Cai was born in Cainong Village to a father with a Chinese cabbage Martial Soul and a mother with a white radish Martial Soul; his name comes from his father’s Martial Soul. After transmigrating to the Douluo Continent, he retained knowledge of the coming wars and resolved to become powerful enough to protect his family and fellow villagers. His awakening instead produced Ralts, a rare externalized Martial Soul with level-five Innate Soul Power. 1

He studied the unusual nature of externalized Martial Souls, concluding that Ralts possessed separate reserves of Soul Power and mental power and could cultivate independently. Rather than accept a conventional ring path, he and Ralts condensed a life-bound Soul Ring, beginning Ralts’s evolution toward Kirlia and, ultimately, Gardevoir. 3 7

At Shrek Academy, Bai Cai became a core disciple alongside Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao. His control-oriented tactics, skill-sealing ability, and unusually powerful mental strength made him a central figure in the freshman assessments and later Soul Fighting matches. 21 30 45

While seeking Ralts’s second ring in the Extreme North, Bai Cai became separated from Yan Shaozhe and survived by traveling with a herd of Blizzard Mammoths. During this ordeal, he awakened Qingxue, a Heavenly Snow Woman external Martial Soul. Qingxue’s awakening gave him a second super Martial Soul and dramatically accelerated his growth. 37 38 41

Bai Cai later withdrew from the soul master tournament despite being one of Shrek’s strongest outer-court students. He believed that public fame would make him a more valuable target for the Holy Spirit Cult, Body Sect, and Mingde Hall. 86

His investigation in Belun led to conflict with Life Spirit Academy personnel. To protect Xin, he used Ring Detonation and the Ice Jade Scorpion Tail against stronger opponents, defeating Batus at the cost of severe backlash.
