Background / History

Ralts awakened alongside Bai Cai in Cainong Village as a rare externalized Martial Soul. Although external Martial Souls were generally regarded as defective mutations with poor cultivation prospects, Ralts possessed level-five Innate Soul Power, high intelligence, telekinesis, and telepathy. Zhao Jin formally recorded its unusual name as “Ralts.” 1

Unlike a conventional Martial Soul, Ralts acts independently and cannot be directly controlled by Bai Cai. It remains at his side whenever manifested, possesses its own soul power and mental-power reserves, and bears the cost of its own psychic abilities rather than draining Bai Cai directly. This allows Bai Cai and Ralts to cultivate separately through meditation and combine their gains. 3 4

Upon reaching level 10, Ralts sensed an unknown power within itself. Bai Cai concluded that it was likely a Life-bound Soul Ring connected to Ralts’ latent evolutionary potential. The pair secretly returned to their old forest shelter near Cainong Village and spent days alternating their soul power and meditation to condense the ring. They ultimately absorbed it together, reaching level 11 and unlocking Ralts’ innate Spirit Skills. 5 6 7

At Shrek Academy, Bai Cai pursued soul rings from humanoid or spirit-attribute soul beasts to encourage Ralts’ growth toward its complete form. Wang Yan identified Ralts as a regressive, infantile form of a possible super Martial Soul and arranged an expedition to obtain a Mirror Shadow Beast soul ring. 32 33

During the Far North expedition, Ralts protected Bai Cai through extreme weather, constructed shelters, and carried him through the air inside psychic barriers. After Bai Cai gained the Mirror Shadow Beast and Abyssal Demon Octopus soul rings, Ralts reached the Soul Elder stage and evolved into Kirlia. 36 44 45

Appearance

As Ralts, it is a small blue-haired humanoid creature that often sits on Bai Cai’s left shoulder. Its blue bangs cover its face, while a yellow halo appeared above its head after the Life-bound Soul Ring was absorbed. 7 18

After evolving, Kirlia has a more mature, doll-like humanoid appearance and can hover independently. 45

Personality

Ralts is exceptionally perceptive and emotionally intelligent. It senses Bai Cai’s mood without being told, recognizes his worries, and responds enthusiastically to his determination to become stronger. 2 5

It is fiercely loyal and protective toward Bai Cai. Ralts assures him that it can maintain telepathy while meditating so that it can continue guarding him, and it repeatedly uses its psychic power to shield, transport, and support him in dangerous environments. 4 36 37

Despite its combat value, Ralts displays gentle and refined behavior. After gaining its Life-bound Soul Ring, it greeted Bai Cai with a ladylike bow; it also obediently followed his request to avoid watching the Blizzard Mammoths’ mating behavior. 7 38

Ralts serves as Bai Cai’s main battlefield-control tool during the Shrek freshman assessment. It restrains opponents, protects allies, and enables the team of Bai Cai, Wang Dong, and Xiao Xiao to counter stronger or more aggressive squads through coordination. 21 23 24

Martial Soul Fusion

Ralts forms a unique fusion with Wang Dong’s Goddess of Light Butterfly. Their Ability Swap disrupts the Hell White Tiger fusion and contributes directly to Bai Cai’s team taking first place in the freshman assessment. 29
