Ye Xuan’s body has undergone repeated refinement through soul bones, immortal herbs, divine power, tidal body tempering, and the Dragon God Core. Ye Xuan’s martial soul manifests as a red-and-white sphere roughly the size of a fist, with a black button at its center—a Poké Ball. Unlike conventional martial souls that directly provide attack power or support abilities, the Poké Ball specializes in the capture, storage, and utilization of soul beasts. It possesses the unique ability to “capture” a soul beast by throwing it, binding the beast to the user as a soul ring without requiring the beast’s death 1 2. Once captured, the soul beast is stored within the Poké Ball and can be summoned at will to assist in battle 2 4 10. The martial soul also facilitates a deep soul-bond: as long as Ye Xuan lives, his captured soul beasts cannot die 2.
Through resonance with certain soul beasts or soul bones, the Poké Ball can evolve in appearance and function—for example, after resonating with Xiao Wu’s hundred-thousand-year soul bone, it changed from red-and-white to black-and-white with a crescent moon emblem, effectively becoming a “Super Ball” with enhanced capacities 5 6 26. The Poké Ball can also transform its captured beasts’ soul bones into crystallized “stones” (such as the Moon Stone, Dawn Stone, and Leaf Stone) by channeling moonlight or other external energies, allowing the soul beast to reabsorb its own essence 5 22 27. Ye Xuan effectively has access to the full ability sets of each captured soul beast. Bibi Dong noted that because Xiao Wu and Tian Meng are both hundred-thousand-year-level soul beasts, they continuously recover their former power as Ye Xuan grows stronger, and he can wield all abilities they possess 24. However, switching between possession states, such as from Bright Moon Demon Rabbit to Ice Silkworm, consumes significant soul power and is not done lightly 24.
Soul Bones
Ye Xuan’s Poké Ball martial soul has the unique property of transforming the inherent soul bones of his captured soul beasts into crystallized “stones” that can be reabsorbed by the beast or himself, rather than extracting them for his own use as traditional soul bones. Over time, she adapts to life at Spirit Hall and grows more comfortable, even learning her ultimate move, the Explosive Eight-Stage Throw, to share with Ye Xuan 6. Their bond is playful and affectionate—Ye Xuan strokes her rabbit ears and treats her as a partner rather than a servant 11. However, Xiao Wu remains deeply hostile toward Bibi Dong, who killed her mother and once tried to kill her, and she instinctively resists everyone except Ye Xuan 3 5.
As Ye Xuan’s earliest companion, Xiao Wu remains fiercely loyal and increasingly bold in defending her place at his side. She understands the consequences of Ye Xuan’s Pure Yang Body and has volunteered to help him balance its excess yang energy when necessary 47 89.Hu Liena
